Chapter 68 - return

Yuuto spent the next several days in that new world.

Peaceful days—yet filled with work.

The island that had once been nothing but a vast stretch of barren land began to change.

Seeds collected by the group members were scattered across the entire island. As soon as Yuuto channeled his Genuine Fae power, harmonizing with nature—

Trees grew within hours.

Roots pierced the soil, trunks thickened, and green leaves blossomed beneath the sunlight.

Wild animals were introduced as well. Birds filled the sky, deer ran across the grasslands, and fish populated the coastal waters. Even—several Sea Kings were brought into the world by Yamato.

Kuroneko stared at the shoreline with a tense expression, watching massive shadows move beneath the water.

"Y-Yamato… are you sure this is safe?" she asked nervously.

Yamato laughed loudly.

"Hahahaha! Of course. I've already tamed them, so they won't attack humans."

She crossed her arms casually.

"Besides, a world without monsters would be really boring."

Yuuto, who overheard this, could only let out a long sigh.

Still, the results were undeniable.

Within a week, the island had completely transformed.

Forests grew, flowers bloomed everywhere, and the ecosystem began to function on its own. The island became alive.

Miku stared at the scenery with wide eyes.

"Wow… this place is already li—"

Suddenly, a voice echoed inside her mind.

"Like the Garden of Eden…"

The voice was soft, alluring.

Miku stiffened.

"It's still far from it," the voice continued with a soft chuckle,

"but it's pretty decent."

Lilith stood behind Miku's shadow, her eyes fixed on Yuuto, who was sleeping among a field of flowers—surrounded by birds and animals, from fierce beasts like tigers to gentle ones like deer and rabbits. Yet none of them disturbed Yuuto; they simply slept beside him.

"As expected of my Adam."

Miku jolted.

"S-shut up! He's not your husband—he's my husband!"

Lilith merely laughed softly, meaningfully, before disappearing like mist.

The days passed peacefully.

Until the day Yuuto was about to leave the island—only Yuuto and Belfast remained. Miku had already returned to her world.

Yuuto stood at the edge of the beach, the sea breeze fluttering his jacket.

"Belfast," he said, turning toward her,

"today we're returning to my world. Are you ready?"

He extended his arm.

Belfast smiled gently and accepted it, gracefully holding onto Yuuto's arm.

"Yes, darling."

Yuuto took out his folding phone. Light enveloped the two of them.

And in an instant—

They vanished from the shore.

---

Somewhere in Tokyo.

A light appeared inside the warehouse where Yuuto usually practiced magecraft.

Wooosh.

Two figures appeared simultaneously.

Yuuto was now wearing casual clothes, a jacket with a hood covering part of his face.

Belfast, wearing a new, more modest maid outfit, clung to Yuuto's arm, her eyes immediately scanning their surroundings.

The warehouse was filled with plants and flowers—yet all of them were withered, dead, as if abandoned for a long time.

Belfast's expression darkened.

"So… this is your world, darling?" she asked softly.

"Yes," Yuuto replied.

"More precisely… this is my workshop for practicing magecraft."

He released Belfast's arm briefly.

"Wait a moment."

Yuuto stepped forward and stomped his foot against the ground.

In an instant—

The dead plants trembled.

Stems turned green again, leaves sprouted, and flowers bloomed as if awakening from a long sleep.

"I'm back," Yuuto said softly.

Belfast gazed at the scene, her eyes sparkling.

She bowed slightly and plucked a flower, holding it carefully.

Yuuto returned and opened his arms.

"Come on, Belfast. I'll show you around."

Belfast smiled and held onto him again.

"Let's go, darling."

They stepped out of the warehouse together.

The Tokyo sky slowly changed colors—

a new morning had arrived.

Belfast held Yuuto's arm more tightly as they walked along the city sidewalk.

"I've been away in another world for a month," Yuuto said while looking at the surrounding buildings,

"but it doesn't feel like much has changed here."

Belfast turned her gaze to the neat streets and the people passing by at a relaxed pace.

"Darling, this city is very different from the cities in Miss Yamato's world and my former world," she said gently.

"It feels… very peaceful."

Yuuto nodded slightly.

"Yamato's world and your world are quite chaotic. Even though your world has human cities like this, you were always fighting. So it's natural that the difference feels large. This city is relatively peaceful—trouble is rare."

They continued walking, enjoying the atmosphere. Before long, Belfast felt something odd. Gazes from all directions became unmistakably obvious.

"Hey, isn't that a maid?"

"Is she doing cosplay?"

"She's really beautiful."

"And that guy looks pretty handsome too."

Whispers began to spread, and some people even took out their phones to photograph them.

"Darling," Belfast whispered softly, moving closer,

"too many eyes are on us."

"It can't be helped," Yuuto replied calmly.

"We stand out too much."

Yuuto's face was hidden by his hood, but his heightened awareness allowed him to fully sense the attention around them. Still, he wasn't bothered at all.

A few steps later, they were stopped by a group of high school girls who looked hesitant yet determined.

Yuuto stopped, his expression calm and neutral.

Belfast instinctively tightened her grip on his arm.

"Um… oni-san," one of the girls said nervously.

Yuuto smiled politely.

"Hmm… what is it?"

"C-could we have your phone number?" the girl asked, her face flushed.

"Oh, sorry," Yuuto replied lightly,

"I forgot to bring my phone. And honestly… I don't even remember my own number."

"T-then," the girl hurriedly continued,

"at least your name or address—"

"I'm sorry," Yuuto interrupted gently,

"I'm busy right now. I want to show my wife around the city—she just arrived here."

He slightly raised his hand, showing the wedding ring on his finger.

Belfast did the same, displaying the ring shining on her ring finger.

"S-so… you're married?" one of them murmured, clearly disappointed.

That disappointment spread—several people who had been watching turned away in silence.

Yuuto and Belfast continued walking, leaving the group behind.

After they were far enough away, Belfast spoke again.

"Does that happen often?" she asked softly.

Yuuto glanced at her.

"Yes. I usually avoid them by saying I forgot my phone or that I'm busy. But they often don't give up."

He looked at Belfast and smiled slightly.

"Now I have a much stronger reason."

"I'm glad I could help, darling," Belfast replied gently.

They continued walking until they arrived in front of an apartment building.

"Is this where you live, darling?" Belfast asked, looking up at the building.

"Yes," Yuuto answered honestly.

"Sorry if it's disappointing. It's not a castle."

"That's not disappointing," Belfast replied quickly,

"I'm just… surprised."

"Hehehe~ I know," Yuuto chuckled softly as he gently stroked her hair.

"I was just teasing."

"Darling!" Belfast blushed, though she tried to maintain her elegance.

"Forget it," Yuuto said.

"Let's go inside."

They entered the building and took the elevator. A moment later, the doors opened on Yuuto's floor.

"Good… looks like everything's the same," Yuuto muttered as they walked down the hallway.

But his steps stopped in front of one unit.

"What is it, darling?" Belfast asked, following his gaze to a nameplate.

"Hm… if I remember correctly," Yuuto said thoughtfully,

"this apartment was still vacant when I left."

"Maybe someone moved in while you were away," Belfast suggested.

"Yeah… maybe," Yuuto replied.

He glanced at the nameplate again.

"'Sairenji'…" he read aloud.

He shrugged lightly.

"Whatever. I'll greet them another time."

With that, Yuuto resumed walking, holding Belfast's hand, toward his own apartment.

A few steps later, they stood in front of Yuuto's door.

Click.

The door opened, and Yuuto stepped inside first with Belfast.

"I'm home," Yuuto said out of habit.

But there was no reply.

The room was dark, silent, and filled with dust—clearly untouched for a month.

"Cough—cough."

Belfast covered her mouth briefly, waving her hand to disperse the dust in the air.

"Darling," she said gently yet firmly,

"it seems the first thing we must do is clean this place."

Yuuto looked around the room and nodded slightly.

"Yes… it seems so."

He stepped further inside and turned on the lights. The dull room was illuminated—floors covered in thin dust, cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling, and stale, trapped air.

"Alright," Belfast said as she slightly rolled up her sleeves,

"this is my duty as your wife—not as a maid anymore."

She swiftly picked up a broom and cleaning tools. Yuuto opened the windows, letting in fresh morning air. He wiped dust from the window frames and removed cobwebs with a cloth.

Belfast carefully mopped the floor. While working, she suddenly spoke without turning around.

"Darling," she said softly,

"did the doll you mentioned—your substitute while you were in Miss Yamato's world—not clean this apartment?"

Yuuto, still cleaning the windows, replied in a flat tone.

"Seems so," he said.

"My last order was for it to stay with my two siblings and my parents… so it could gradually hypnotize them."

He paused briefly, then added,

"It seems I forgot to order it to take care of this apartment as well."

Belfast stopped mopping and turned to him.

"How could you forget something that important?" she said, half-scolding but without anger.

"It's a good thing nothing went wrong."

Yuuto smiled awkwardly.

"Sorry," he said.

"I was too eager to go to another world… so I forgot about it."

Belfast let out a soft sigh, then resumed mopping.

"It's alright," she said gently.

"What matters is that we're here now."

The room slowly began to change—dust diminished, and the air felt lighter.
