Chapter 11 - Buying

Mike nodded.

Then he asked, "Do you also have those small beast-carrying rings? The ones beast tamers use?"

She smiled. "Yes, we do. They're called Beast Rings. They let your sister carry the bunny with her at all times. They're not as spacious as the cube, but very convenient."

Mike nodded and purchased one.

It cost another 10,000 credits, since this particular ring only had 30 cubic meters of space, but it was decorated like a beautiful miniature garden—soft grass, small glowing stones, and a gentle fake sky painted on the interior.

Perfect for this bunny.

"Sir, do you need anything else?" The young lady asked politely.

Mike thought for a moment, then remembered his talent.

"Yes… do you have eggs? Even unfertilized ones, or those that can't hatch? Anything you normally sell cheaply?" he asked.

The young lady nodded.

"Yes, we always have a batch of defective eggs. It's normal—if we get too many unfertilized ones, we usually convert them into feed for young beast cubs. Did you want some of those eggs?" she asked.

Mike nodded.

"Yes, I need one for a quest," he said after thinking for a moment, using the "quest" excuse instead of explaining too much.

"Quest? Wait—are you an Awakener?" she asked in surprise.

Mike nodded, and she quickly asked for his Awakener ID card.

When she checked it, she bowed slightly, embarrassed.

"I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't realize. You should've gotten a 20% discount as an Awakener. Please allow me to fix that," she said hurriedly.

Mike waved his hand.

"It's okay. I'll use that money to get some eggs instead," he said.

She nodded and led him to the incubation room.

It was another large chamber with a spatial expansion spell placed on it. Rows of machines filled the room, each simulating different incubation conditions.

She guided him toward a huge storage box where countless eggs were piled up—some cracked, some dented, clearly tossed in this box roughly.

"These are all dead eggs," she explained. "We normally sell them at the rate of 100 credits for Rank 1 dead beast eggs, 200 for Rank 2, 400 for Rank 3, 1,000 for Rank 4, and 2,000 for Rank 5."

Mike nodded thoughtfully.

"Do you have any horse-type dead beast eggs?" he asked.

If he could use his talent to reverse a dead egg into a living one, he could potentially get a powerful mount for almost nothing.

"Let me check."

She tapped her tablet and scrolled for a moment before looking up.

"We have a dead Black Lightning Steed egg—a rare Rank 4 potential beast. And we also have a Blaze Unicorn egg, an uncommon Rank 3 beast."

She pointed to the entries.

Mike looked at the tablet curiously. "Can I see the list?"

"Yes, of course. They're just bundles of dead eggs anyway," she said casually.

He browsed through the catalog and then randomly picked several Rank 3, Rank 4, and Rank 5 beast eggs, adding them to his selection until the purchase totaled around 100,000 credits.

As he left the store, both the young lady and the older clerk bowed politely.

"Please come back again, esteemed customer!"

Mike happily nodded.

Among the beast eggs he purchased, the Black Wyvern egg stood out the most—the best mount one could ever hope to obtain.

Wyverns were powerful flying-type beasts, and they possessed breath attacks similar to dragons. Their species was extremely valuable. Even though the egg he bought was technically dead, if he used the Reversal Engine on it, it would be equivalent to winning a jackpot worth millions.

A Rank 5 beast egg alone sold for 5 million credits—and that was just an ordinary top-grade Rank 5 beast.

A living Black Wyvern, especially if it hatched successfully, would be worth at least 20 million credits.

"Ahahahaha… It was a good idea to check the 'Damaged Egg' category," Mike grinned as he walked through the plaza.

Before browsing skill books or other items, he booked a private room.

It was an Awakened Hotel—a place designed so awakened people could rest safely and also log in or out of the Origin World without worrying about disturbances at home.

Mike booked a room mainly because it had mana shielding. If the talent caused a minor riot, the hotel's walls would contain it, keeping him low-key and not drawing unnecessary attention.

Entering his room, he immediately took out the Rank 3 Shadow Panther dead egg and placed it on the bed.

The shell was cold to the touch, riddled with cracks—clearly, it couldn't be more dead than this.

Mike placed his hand on it and activated the reversal engine.

Mana surged out of him in a violent rush.

Within seconds, nearly 50% of his mana was drained before the egg finally reacted.

The cracks slowly vanished.

The icy surface warmed under his palm.

The once dull egg turned into a smooth, pitch-black, healthy-looking beast egg.

Then—

[ Shadow Panther Egg ]

[ Hatching Time: 24 days ]

Mike's eyes widened.

"…Ahahahaha!"

He almost jumped off the bed in excitement.

He had just discovered a way to make tons of money—

with only a little investment.

"Now I can buy more skills as well as some good equipment too," he mumbled, grinning.

A Rank 3 Rare beast eggs usually sold for 3–4 million credits, so he had made a windfall.

Putting the egg into his inventory, he stepped out and walked toward a different beast shop this time—far from the first one he visited.

"Hello, how may I help you?" A young man at the counter greeted him.

"I'm here to sell some loot I found," Mike said calmly.

The clerk nodded. "What is it?"

"I found a batch of Shadow Panther eggs," Mike replied.

The clerk's eyes widened. "W-wait! I'll call the manager!" He ran off immediately.

Soon a plump man hurried in and shook Mike's hand eagerly.

"Please come with me to the appraisal room."

Mike followed him into a room with another appraisal machine.

"Please place the eggs on the grooves," the manager requested.

Mike put three Shadow Panther eggs on the platform—only one was the revived living egg; the rest remained dead. He simply planned to say he "found them like that."

After scanning the eggs, the machine beeped.

The plump manager turned to him with a bright smile.

"Sir, only one egg is alive and viable. As per standard pricing, we can buy it for 3.3 million credits."

He had clearly expected more, judging by his earlier expression when he saw three eggs—but now, seeing two were dead, he relaxed.

Mike simply nodded.

"I'll keep the two dead ones. They're useful as feed for my future beast."

"Of course, sir," the manager said, handing the payment slip.

A moment later, Mike received 3.3 million credits.

Combined with his earlier funds, he now had over 4 million credits.

A massive profit in a single day.
