Chapter 44 - Revaluation 1

Yesterday, the Magic Power Evaluation Center couldn't get a clear result from Louis.

All they could say was "Impossible to measure."

Still, they told him to come to the Hunter Association the next morning for an official evaluation.

Louis didn't expect the association to send someone to pick him up—but something surprising happened the next day.

Louis opened his apartment door with a small yawn… then almost bumped into a tall man standing like a statue on the stairs.

"Uh… am I still dreaming?"

The man slowly looked up. His face was serious, his eyes were cold, wearing a dark suit and an official badge.

"Mr. Kim Yoo-won?"

"…Yes?"

Louis already knew who this man was.

He was the highest-ranked hunter and the current chief inspector of the Korean Hunter Association's Surveillance Team, under President Go Gun-hee.

The man stepped forward.

"I am Woo Jin-Chul. I was ordered to bring you directly to the Association building, to avoid any problems on the way."

Louis opened his eyes a bit wider, pretending to be surprised.

"Woo Jin-Chul? The chief inspector?"

"Yes. We should leave now, please."

Louis felt strange. How did they even find his address so fast?

They're definitely more efficient than the Hero Association in One Punch Man… he thought.

Louis joked, "Uh, is there any reason we're moving so fast? Couldn't I at least get a message first?"

Woo Jin-Chul ignored the question completely and opened the car door for him.

"Please get in."

Louis whispered with a small smile, "Wow… what a friendly guy."

He got into the car, and Woo Jin-Chul sat beside him silently.

Louis already knew his personality from the original story, so he tried anyway:

"So… the weather is nice today, right?"

"…"

"By the way… do you like coffee?"

"…"

"Great conversation… nice silence."

Woo Jin-Chul continued staring out the window with a frozen expression.

Is this guy made of steel? Louis thought.

A few minutes later, the car stopped.

Louis got out… then froze.

Cameras. Microphones. Dozens of reporters pushing everywhere!

"Ohh… that's what should happen," he thought with a slight grin.

Louis leaned toward Jin-Chul. "Did someone leak the information? Why are there so many people?"

Woo Jin-Chul frowned. "Maybe the news about your re-evaluation spread. Reporters here are fast… unfortunately."

Before he finished, a reporter shouted: "That's him!! The new hunter!!"

Everyone rushed toward Louis.

"Mr. Kim! Are you a high-rank awakened?!"

"What is your real rank?!"

"Are you the first S-rank in years?!"

Woo Jin-Chul tried to stop them: "Everyone, step back! Move away!"

Association guards came immediately to protect Louis, but reporters kept pushing.

Louis suddenly remembered something from the original story—when reporters surrounded Sung Jin-Woo in this exact place.

He smirked, "Oh right… Jin-Woo escaped very smoothly, didn't he?"

He stepped closer to Jin-Chul. "No need to try so hard."

Jin-Chul stared. "What do you mea—"

Louis interrupted calmly, "I'll make it simple."

And suddenly—

He disappeared.

Yes, literally disappeared right in front of everyone.

Louis appeared near the main door, far away from the crowd.

He waved while holding his phone: "Umm… Inspector Woo Jin-Chul? Should I wait here, or will you guide me inside?"

Everyone froze.

One reporter shouted, "H- He's there!!"

Then more voices: "What kind of ability is that?! Teleportation?!"

"Or did he just move too fast?!"

Woo Jin-Chul finally snapped out of his shock and ordered: "Close the entrances immediately! No one else comes inside!"

Then he rushed to Louis.

"Please follow me."

Louis smiled, "Sure, Inspector."

They both entered the Association building together…

While outside, the questions kept growing.

Who exactly is this man?

And what is his real power?

*** *** ***

"Is this the place for the re-evaluation?" Louis asked while walking behind Woo Jin-Chul.

He didn't remember this location from the original story.

"No, this is not the place," Woo Jin-Chul answered.

"Alright… then what's happening?" Louis asked again.

"There is someone who wants to speak with you. Would you mind if the evaluation is delayed a little while, and you come with me?"

Of course, Louis already knew who that person was.

He even guessed what the conversation would be about.

But he decided to act a little.

He looked at Jin-Chul with a cold expression and asked,

"Is that an order?"

Woo Jin-Chul took off his sunglasses.

Then he bowed his head deeply, and his voice became even more serious.

"I would like to ask this as a favor."

Louis didn't expect someone who looked strong and scary like Woo Jin-Chul to show that kind of attitude.

He thought for a moment, then decided that was enough acting, and stopped.

"Alright then… who wants to talk to me?"

Only then did Woo Jin-Chul raise his head.

"It's the President of the Hunter Association, Go Gun-Hee."

Just as I thought! Louis said to himself.

Woo Jin-Chul pointed toward the office at the corner.

"The Association President is there right now."

Woo Jin-Chul looked a little worried while waiting for Louis's answer.

The atmosphere was serious, and this was definitely not the time to make silly jokes.

He needed to be honest, nothing more.

Why would someone like Go Gun-Hee want to meet him?

Louis had a pretty good guess, but he decided to just go along with it.

"Alright, I'll go," Louis finally said.

Woo Jin-Chul's expression brightened so much that the cold look he had just a moment ago almost felt like it never existed.

"Thank you very much!!" he said, sounding extremely serious.

So even this stone-faced man can make expressions like that… Louis thought with a small smile.

When they reached the corner, Jin-Chul opened the office door.

Louis saw an old man sitting in a main chair behind a desk with a sign that said:

"President of the Hunter Association."

So it really is him… Louis thought.

This was the S-Rank hunter Go Gun-Hee, also known as the Sky Above the Sky.
