Chapter 13 - The Price Of Power

PART I — The Forbidden Method

Deep beneath the earth, far from any mapped sector, Zenn stood alone in a chamber carved with old fractures and scars from past battles.

At the center of the room lay a sealed iron basin.

Inside it—dark, thick blood.

The blood of a fallen A-class demon.

Zenn stared at it, silent.

Zenn (quietly):

"Power is never free…

it only asks what you are willing to sacrifice."

He extended one claw and let a thin stream of his own energy seep into the basin.

The blood reacted immediately.

It boiled.

It screamed.

Bone fragments rose from the liquid, assembling themselves unnaturally, snapping into place like a body remembering how it once lived.

Zenn stepped back.

Zenn: "You will not think.

You will not question."

The chamber shook.

The creature formed—wrong in every way. Too many joints. Muscles layered over bone like armor plates. No eyes, only heat-sensing slits that opened and closed.

A synthetic demon.

Born from stolen blood and force.

It roared.

Zenn's third eye glowed brighter, the symbol pulsing violently.

Zenn:

"Go.

Burn the Slayers' attention."

The monster burst upward, tearing through rock and steel, racing toward the surface like a living missile.

Zenn turned away.

His real work was elsewhere.

PART II — The Alarm

Iron Veil headquarters erupted in noise.

Sirens.

Screens flashing red.

Coordinates locking in.

Operator: "Unknown demon signature detected—rapid growth!

Class reading unstable but approaching S-class!"

Helena Voss stood instantly.

Voss: "Location?"

Operator: "Sector 18. Civilian density high."

Lady Eve tightened her gloves.

Lady Eve: "It's bait."

Samurai nodded.

Samurai: "And we can't ignore it."

Voss exhaled once.

Voss: "All available Slayers deploy.

Trainees remain on standby."

She paused.

Voss: "No heroics."

PART III — Chaos by Design

The monster hit Sector 18 at full force.

Buildings collapsed like paper. Streets split open. Vehicles were tossed aside as if weightless.

It didn't hunt.

It rampaged.

Missiles slammed into its armored hide, tearing chunks away—but the creature kept moving.

Field Commander: "It doesn't dodge! It doesn't retreat!"

Lady Eve: "Because it doesn't care."

Blue Rose gas filled the air, slowing it—but not stopping it.

The Slayers were forced into full engagement.

Exactly as Zenn planned.

PART IV — The Shadow Moves

Far away, while every eye was turned to Sector 18, Zenn stood before a towering structure hidden beneath layers of reinforced iron and null-field barriers.

Prison Vault Axiom.

Iron Veil's most secure containment facility.

Inside were things never meant to walk free.

Zenn watched patrol patterns shift on his mental map.

Zenn: "You guard monsters…

but you think like humans."

He moved.

Not by force.

By precision.

Using stolen access codes, corrupted signals, and brute demon speed, Zenn slipped through external defenses, avoiding combat entirely.

He stopped before a massive containment door.

Runes. Iron seals. Blue Rose injectors lining the walls.

Behind it—

Something ancient.

Something violent.

Zenn placed his palm on the door.

Zenn (softly):

"Not yet."

He began disabling the seals.

One by one.

PART V — The Academy Feels It

Back at Iron Veil Academy, the trainees watched the live feeds in silence.

Aiden's hands were clenched.

Aiden: "This demon… it's different."

Fushiguro nodded.

Fushiguro: "No intelligence pattern.

No retreat logic."

Adolf frowned.

Adolf: "It's a weapon."

Aiden felt cold.

Aiden: "Then someone is holding the trigger."

PART VI — The Cost Revealed

Sector 18 burned.

But slowly—painfully—the Slayers pushed back.

Lady Eve severed the creature's limbs with precise strikes. Samurai pinned it with iron harpoons. Blue Rose saturation reached lethal levels.

The monster finally collapsed, dissolving into ash and bone fragments.

Victory.

But it felt hollow.

Helena Voss stared at the battlefield feed.

Voss: "This was never the real threat."

She turned sharply.

Voss: "Check all high-security facilities.

Now."

Too late.

FINAL SCENE — A Door Opens

Deep within Prison Vault Axiom, alarms began to scream.

Zenn stepped back as the final seal disengaged.

The massive door opened slowly.

Darkness breathed out.

Zenn smiled.

Zenn:

"The world is about to remember your name."

Something inside the cell shifted.

And laughed.
