Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Felicity's Smartest Episode

"Sorry, that was my oversight."

Dan Heng apologized sincerely,

"To avoid any complications, I deliberately concealed your presence during the negotiations."

"No, it's fine."

Felicity shrugged indifferently.

After all, none of them were likely to get a good night's sleep anyway.

"Ah, it's no big deal! Felicity can just sleep with me!"

March 7th cheerfully pressed close to Felicity, wrapping an arm around hers until their cheeks were almost touching.

"We can have a pajama party! We can snack without worrying about weight... Oh, I forgot to buy snacks. Then we can still have... a pillow fight?"

"Yay, a pillow fight too!"

Stelle said happily.

"...Since it's decided, let's get to bed early. Save your energy—the next few days are bound to be tough."

Dan Heng said helplessly.

"One more thing!"

Felicity cut in at the right moment, stopping the group as they were about to disperse.

She shared the information she had obtained from Bronya with everyone.

"That old witch! How can she act one way in front of people and another behind their backs!"

March 7th stomped her foot angrily to vent her frustration, then let out a sigh full of grievance,

"Ugh, I've noticed that every three worlds, we end up getting wanted."

"That's because you always act on impulse without any plan."

Dan Heng delivered a blunt retort. He then turned his gaze to Felicity and asked,

"Any plans?"

"Shouldn't you ask me first at a time like this!?"

March 7th protested on her own behalf, even though she was the seasoned veteran who had traveled through multiple worlds.

"Then let's hear what little March thinks first~"

Felicity casually ruffled March 7th's pink hair and said with a smile.

"Let me think, let me think... Eh, I've got it!"

March 7th actually started pondering the plan very seriously. She muttered to herself with a troubled expression for a while, then suddenly raised a finger, shaking it triumphantly as she said,

"Remember the passage corroded by the Fragmentum we checked out today? Stelle found out it's completely sealed off, with no one inside. Let's sneak in there to escape—it's foolproof!"

"Hmm, that is a feasible plan."

Dan Heng nodded in agreement. After a pause, he added,

"But we can't run immediately. It's best not to alert anyone."

Belobog is just this tiny place, with nowhere to hide even if you wanted to.

"Hooray! Then I still have a chance to take a hot bath and sleep comfortably!"

March 7th cheered excitedly, already eager to rush to her room.

However, the next moment, a stern shout suddenly came from outside the inn.

"I am Gepard Landau, Silvermane Guards Garrison Officer! In the name of the exalted Amber Lord, I am here under orders to arrest infiltrators attempting to incite rebellion!"

"It seems you celebrated too early."

Felicity said regretfully to March 7th.

"...Damn it, why launch a sneak attack right when people are about to sleep!"

March 7th said angrily.

"Without a doubt, this is premeditated betrayal."

Dan Heng frowned and turned his gaze to Felicity.

He instinctively believed that although this Emanator of Abundance was sometimes even more unpredictable than March 7th and Stelle combined, she could be relied upon at crucial moments.

It was always good to hear her opinion at times like this.

"Why are you looking at me? There are no words written on my face."

Felicity blinked innocently.

Dan Heng: ...

"Making such a loud announcement downstairs means they must have set up a very thorough encirclement. Even if we try to slip away from other places, it probably won't help. So all we can do is break through directly."

Felicity said honestly.

To be frank, intellectual battles had never been her strong suit, especially after learning she was immortal.

In short, she had given up on overthinking things.

Since she couldn't die anyway, and even dying would be a good thing for her, why bother with all those complicated thoughts?

Fortunately, after carefully considering Felicity's response, Dan Heng nodded in agreement.

"Felicity is right. The Supreme Guardian's arrangements should be quite thorough. All we can do is break through before the guards coming to arrest us can react."

He pondered for a moment, his gaze still fixed on Felicity,

"Do we have a destination?"

Although they had decided to break through to the Fragmentum, without a place to stay, it would only be a matter of time before they were caught.

They couldn't just escape Belobog and go somewhere outside the city, could they?

"Well... there actually is one. It's said that people from the Underworld and the Overworld haven't interacted for over a decade. Even if we escape there, the Silvermane Guards won't pursue us."

Felicity thought about it and actually came up with an answer.

"Yes, given the current situation, that's probably our best option."

Dan Heng nodded, finally relieved, and began seriously explaining the next plan:

"After we go out, we'll pretend to surrender first, then follow my signal to break through directly."

"Sigh, and I really wanted to get some proper rest."

The more March 7th thought about it, the angrier she became. With pent-up frustration with no outlet, she resolved to pull off something spectacular against those Silvermane Guards when they went out!

...She'd just freeze their gun barrels, letting them watch us escape while fuming helplessly. Hehe!

"..."

Stelle didn't speak. She just swung her baseball bat, eager for action.

"Anyway, let's get out of here first."

Dan Heng spoke with an expressionless face.

The four of them walked out of the hotel in an orderly manner, only to find themselves confronted by a group of Silvermane Guards led by Gepard.

Dan Heng crossed his arms and was about to say something when he heard Felicity whisper beside him:

"Should we start running now?"

Dan Heng was slightly taken aback, then nodded. Rather than finishing their conversation and waiting for the enemy to become alert before fleeing, it would be better to say nothing and start running immediately.

After all, the situation didn't look like it could be resolved through negotiation.

Dan Heng took a deep breath and lowered his voice:

"Three of a kind..."

"Two pair?"

Stelle subconsciously chimed in.

"Ace!"

Felicity cheerfully completed the final part. Dan Heng immediately pressed March 7th's head down and broke into a light run forward.

Stelle pulled out her baseball bat and with a swift swing suddenly knocked down a group of guards, while Dan Heng summoned his spear, using the tip to sweep across the ground and push back another group of guards.

"Eh? Ayaaa..."

March 7th looked completely bewildered, unable to even process what had just happened.

"So this is how our secret signal came about?!"

"Ehe?"

"What do you mean by 'ehe'?!"

***

T/N: The signal seemed to be a Chinese proverb, but I didn't really understand it and couldn't find any references, so I switched it for the one Dan Heng uses in the game.
