Caleb Shaw stood there, his posture straight.
He slightly moved his Adam's apple, "I am the Commander."
The butler anxiously slapped his thigh, his face full of urgency.
"No matter how high your rank, what's the use? Outside, you're the General, but at home, you're her husband, and the legitimate one at that. Just that alone, is enough. Don't forget, she is your lawful spouse, your rightful partner. This relationship is more real than any title."
He paused, his tone becoming more earnest.
"Others respect you? That's just pleasantries, etiquette, respect for your position, not for you as a person. If you really want to stand your ground in this mansion and live comfortably, you have to make sure her eyes and heart are filled with you. Make her feel that you're more important than anyone, that no one can replace you."
