Huaihua Village
Today is the day the village hands over its grain to the public fund, a rare day without work.
Yao Chunhua is at the door chatting with a few grandchildren.
Of the four grandchildren, the oldest is the three-year-old Zhuangzhuang from the second child's family, a robust little rascal.
Next is 2-year-old Shi Tou from the eldest's family.
Then there are the two girls, just over a year old: the older Xinxin from the second family and Qingqing, who is a month younger from the eldest's family.
Yao Chunhua chats with the villagers while keeping an eye on the four children playing nearby.
"Hey, where has Wu Meili gone? She doesn't seem to be home," someone mentioned the neighbor, Wu Meili.
"I know this. I heard her daughter, Treasure Bead, is about to give birth, so she took a big hen from home to make chicken soup for her during her postpartum month."
"So that's it, Wu Meili really treats her daughter well."
