It was not yet six o'clock, west city food street already bustling with vendors, selling pancakes, egg burgers, and a variety of other things. Those stalls were particularly spread over the street. Everyone was quietly gathering their energy, waiting for the rush hour.
Gu Yingxue opened her stall and turn on the fire, put the steamer; when the water began to boil, she put buns in the four-layered steamer. After steaming 10 minutes, a rich fragrance began to waft out. The aroma spread out of the stall and drawed the attention of everyones, making their mouths water in anticipation.
After moment, Gu Yingxue opened the lid of steamer, then a large cloud of steam rose, revealing plumpy and white small steamed buns. Even filling can see through the outer skin of streamed buns.
Gu Yingxue was unable to resist temptation, took a plate, and put several buns of each type on it for herself and ate with relief.
The bun's skin was fluffy and soft, slightly transparent; with a slight pull of hand, the fluffy skin instantly tore open, revealing the juicy filling. She savored each bite, feeling the warmth and comfort of the freshly steamed buns.
"Delicious, so delicious!"
"Even I can't resist these buns, won't the customers go crazy buying them?"
Just as dawn breaking, several figures were already walking out of the street entrance, glancing back every few steps. These figures were like a treasure, all the vendors sounded the charge.
"Pancakes, authentic crispy pancakes!"
"Soy milk, fried dough sticks, and fried pancakes!"
"Fragrant, sweet boiled corn!"
By the time, quite a few people were walking towards them. Gu Yingxue also wanted to shout and join the fun, but still she decided not to join. Even though shouting can attract people, she planed to take another route.
She took out two clean porcelain plates, put some pork buns and vegetarian buns each of plate, placed them directly on the counter. Because of their snow white look, semi transparent outer skin that showed off juicy filling, they looked incredibly appetizing.
After waiting for a while,Gu Yingxue's first customer finally arrived.
"Boss, how much are the steamed buns."
Gu Yingxue looked up and saw a girl around 20 years old.
" Steamed buns, 5 for 20 yuan, two flavours: classic pork buns and vegetarian mushroom and bok choy buns."
"They are all fresh out of the steamer, granteed to be delicious."
Gu Yingxue's rice wasn't high, after all cost of a single bun was less than a two yuan.
Wang Xia was drawn in by the aroma of the steamed buns, unconsciously moved closer and her gaze falling on the place that placed on counter. Just looking at those two plates of steamed buns made Wang Xia's heart flutter and aroma of steamed buns made her stomach rumble with anticipation.
"Give me five pork buns."
Gu Yingxue lifted the top lid, and wisp of steam rose up, revealing plump and white buns. Looking at the small, delicate, thin skined, translucent buns in the steamer, Wang Xia imagine their refreshing taste.
Gu Yingxue picked up the buns, put it in the takeout box and added some mild spicy red chill oil sauce on it, and handed it to Wang Xia. Wang Xia took the box, eagerly picked one up, and carefully took a bite in it.
Steamed buns was thin skined, generously filled with a fresh and delicious flavour. Tender meat filling was still very juicy, chunky of minced meat mixed in, offering a chewy yet tender texture. With the chill oil it even better. Red chilli oil looked spicy but it's mild spiciness combined with fragrance made steamed buns even more flavourful.
Wang Xia felt like his taste buds had been struck by cupid's arrow. She couldn't wait to grab a second bun and stuff it into the mouth.
"Boss, it was so delicious."
"I swear, I had never tasted such a delicious steamed buns in all my years of eating on his food street."
"The meat filling is so tender, chewy and juicy! Not greasy at all."
She almost wanted to swallow her tongue whole. Before she had even finished the first bun, she stuffed another bun into her mouth. After two buns, Wang Xia didn't feel full at all. Instead, she felt even more hungrier. Seeing the last three buns she had, she felt a sense of unfairness. It was as if they were mocking her in her moment of need.
"Boss, give me nother five vegetarian mushroom and bok choy buns and five pork steamed buns."
Looking at her, Gu Yingxue, quickly and efficiently picked up five vegetarian buns and five pork buns , placed them in takeout boxes separately, and give it to her.
"Total, is 60 yuan."
After getting vegetarian mushroom and bok choy buns, Wang Xia, quickly picked a bun and took a bite.
"Oh my god!"
"Mmm... It's so hot, so fresh!"
"The filling is so rich in shitake mushroom flavor, book choy is crispy and bun was chewy. It was so delicious."
Wang Xia's eating, got attention of many passersby and nearby vendors. Her expression of enjoyment becomes the most convincing advertisement for Gu Yingxue's stall.
Commotion quickly attracted more people into the stall.
"Boss, what kind of steamed buns are you selling? They looked delicious."
"Today, I have classic pork steamed buns and vegetarian mushroom and bok choy steamed buns, 5 for 10 yuan"
"It was not expensive. Boss, give me five each type of steamed buns."
", Wow... It is really delicious. It was really worth of money."
Feng Wei is a university student. In the early morning he went out with his friend Li Yuhao to get breakfast from a stall of West city food street.
While curiously observing the food stall, Feng Wei didn't find anything that he likes. Looking around Li Yuhao suddenly laughed and pulled him to show somewhere.
"Hey, look at that. Look at the stall over there."
"What's going on? "
Feng Wei looked in the direction to that Li Yuhao was pointing and indeed saw some peoples are eagerly eating buns.
"Goodness, how delicious must those steamed buns be to eat like that?"
"Hey, do you want to try some?"
"Anyway, we don't know what to eat, so why don't we go check out?"
Feng Wei didn't object, but said,
"Don't get your hopes up too high, or if it doesn't delicious like we thought, you will be disappointed."
The two chatted as they walked to Gu Yingxue's stall.
"Boss, much are the steamed buns?
Gu Yingxue replied with a smile.
"There are classic pork steamed buns and vegetarian mushroom and bok choy buns. Five of them are 20 yuan each."
Feng Wei thought it was a bit pricey for a student like him.
"Four yuan for these small buns? Isn't that a bit expensive, boss?
Gu Yingxue explained.
"The cost of the buns is bit higher than regular buns, and it was my family's recipe, using only the freshest ingredients."
"This price is already very reasonable. Rest assured, I can guarantee that they will be delicious. If you don't like them, I will give you your money back."
Gu Yingxue had absolute confidence in the taste of her buns. With the recipes that given by system, how can it not be delicious?
Before Feng Wei could speak, a customer who already ate his buns spoke first.
"Boss, give 10 of each buns to take away."
Li Yuhao asked customer suspiciously,
" Brother, are these buns really that delicious?"
Customer said with a look of relish,
"Delicious, of course it was delicious. Let me tell you, I never had such a delicious bun my life. I have tried every bun stalls in this area, but no one can compare to this."
Finally, Feng Wei and Li Yuhao decided buy 5 of each type of buns.
Gu Yingxue quickly picked buns, placed them in takeout boxes, added some mild spicy chilli oil sauce.
" Your buns, both of you"
"Total is 40 yuan."
Two of the grab the takeout boxes and went sit down on the table. After sat down Li Yuhao quickly stuffed a meat bun into his mouth.
In one bite he felt the flavourful,juicy, tender, and chewy minced meat filling and shift, fluffy, and translucent skinny of the bun. It was beyond his imagination.
"Holy crap! So delicious!"
Li Yuhao exclaimed, devouring a bun in two to three bites before immediately grabbing another one, loudly praising it as he went.
Feng Wei, suprised by his reaction.
"Your reaction is a bit over the top, isn't it?"
But after tasting the bun himself, he thought, Li Yuhao 's reaction was not surprised at all.
" No wonder a small steamed bunss cost 20 yuan for 5; with this level, it wasn't expensive at all."
While they were savoring the buns, Gu Yingxue's stall gradually filled with customers.
The expressions of the nearby vendors resembled those of someone who had just consumed vinegar. They looked sour and displeased, as if tasting something unpleasant.
After selling this batch of steamed buns, Gu Yingxue put the last two trays of raw buns into the steamer.
"We are sold out for today. There are only twenty buns left. You don't need to wait for the rest."
Up hearing this, a chorus of wails erupted from the crowd.
" Seriously, boss? Is this your first day doing business?'
" Are you underestimating the strength of this food street?"
"Exactly! We may not have mush else, but we have a huge customer base. So, no matter what kind of food and how much you bring, unless it's really bad, you'll sold out."
The person at the front of the line was beaming with ride after getting last batch of the steamed buns, while the customers behind, who hadn't gotten any, asked unwillingly,
" Boss are you coming back tomorrow? Don't just say that you are here for a just one day?"
"Come on."
Gu Yingxue nodded, while telling,
"Tomorrow morning around six o'clock, I will open the stall again."
Once they received confirmation, the crowd gradually dispersed, turning back every few steps, muttering that they must come earlier to queue up tomorrow.
