Unaware that Noel was safe and sound with Summer, Gideon rushed to the ice cream shop as soon as he heard the boy was missing. His face was carved with storm clouds. The moment he stepped into the shop, Danica hurried to him.
"Gideon, I checked the CCTV footage," she blurted out breathlessly. "He walked out of the shop and went into the supermarket across the road."
For a second, everything in Gideon went still.
"He crossed the road and went to the supermarket alone! What was the driver doing?" Gideon turned his sharp, accusing glare at the man trembling beside Danica.
"I—I—" the driver stammered, unable to form a sentence.
Gideon was ready to erupt when his phone vibrated in his pocket. Summer's name flashed on the screen. He shoved the phone back into his pocket without answering.
"Pray he is safe," Gideon growled. "If anything happens to him, you are dead."
The driver paled, sweat gathering on his forehead.
