Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: Confronting the Traitor

The real Shota was already after Elder Daigo. The moment his shadow clone dispersed in the council chamber, all the memories flooded back into him.

He knew that the traitor was trying to escape the village. Without wasting even a second, Shota body flickered his way through the streets of Suna, moving like a black shadow between buildings and alleys. His speed was incredible, and the villagers barely caught a glimpse of him as he passed.

"I was right. He would have suspected something after not getting any information from Sasori-san. And he chose to run away," Shota muttered under his breath as he chased the elder.

Suddenly, kunai came flying toward him from the side. Shota dodged them cleanly by jumping into the air, twisting his body mid-leap. He landed gracefully on a rooftop and looked down at the middle-aged man who had attacked him. The man wore Suna attire but had a dangerous look in his eyes.

"Lord Daigo has entrusted me to delay any pursuers after him. It is an honour to be battling you, Eraserhead of Suna. Despite being at such a young age..." the man started saying proudly.

"Omae wa mou shinderu," Shota said calmly.

"What?" the man said, confused.

"You should be saying 'Nani'. You are not even a man of culture," Shota replied with a small sigh. He slashed his hand through the air, sending fire-natured chakra strings flying forward.

The burning threads reached thirty meters in length, glowing like thin red lightsabers. The man could not dodge in time. The strings cut through him in multiple clean lines, slicing his body into several pieces before he could even scream. Blood sprayed across the sand as the brutal attack ended the fight instantly.

Shota ignored the bloody and gory scene below him and kept moving toward his target. He had no time to feel sorry for traitors. Every second counted if he wanted to catch Elder Daigo before he escaped into the vast desert.

He quickly jumped over the village walls, ignoring the shouts of the surprised guards who tried to call out to him. His body flickered again and again, closing the distance rapidly. Finally, he caught up with Elder Daigo on the outskirts of the village, where the sand dunes began.

"Overheat!!" Shota muttered.

Thick fire-natured chakra strings shot out from his palm like a blazing rope. The attack flew at high speed toward the running elder.

Elder Daigo, despite his age, was still quite fast. He perceived the intense heat of the incoming jutsu and moved to the side at the last moment. The fire threads only managed to cut a few strands of his hair as they passed by.

Without looking back, Elder Daigo waved hand signs and blew air from his mouth, attempting to use a jutsu. "Wind Style: Vacuum Bullets Jutsu!"

But nothing came out. He looked like someone trying to blow up a balloon with a pout, his cheeks puffed out uselessly. No bullets, no wind, nothing. He turned around with a grimace of pure anger on his face when he realized what had happened.

"So it is you, brat," he said bitterly.

"Your time has come, traitor of the village. You will answer for all your crimes in front of the council... well, considering your crimes, you would be facing the torture and interrogation division, so good luck with that. I have heard they have developed some very nasty poisons there," Shota said, his voice cold as he took a pause to see Elder Daigo reaction. The only reaction that Elder Daigo showed was of veins bursting on his forehead.

"So I am guessing after what I have said you would not be willingly surrendering, but that would give me an excuse of kicking your ass," Shota added with a dangerous smile.

"For a kid you sure talk big. I do not know why I ever thought of recruiting you to my faction," the elder replied with clear hatred.

"And do not be overconfident, brat. I might have been scared of you if it was a one-on-one fight. But during my time as an elder, I have built quite a faction and gained some very loyal followers," Elder Daigo said confidently.

From the direction of Suna, three Suna jonin along with several chunin and genin came running toward them. They stopped near Elder Daigo, breathing heavily from the fast sprint.

"We left the village as soon as we got your message, Elder Daigo. What are your orders?" one of the jonin asked.

"We will be finishing the job Sasori could not finish. I might as well finish the job myself. And then we will be leaving Suna for now."Daigo declared.

Shota sighed loudly. "You have made so many of Suna's shinobi into traitors. What a pity."

"We chose to follow Elder Daigo of our own free will," one of the jonin said angrily, stepping forward.

"Well, that makes it easy for me to eliminate all of the traitors of the village at the same time," Shota replied. As he said that, his binding cloth scarf started to rise around him. He was not scared one bit of being outnumbered. His eyes glowed with confidence as he activated his anti-gravity field slightly, making his hair and cloth float upward.

These opponents were nothing compared to facing Sasori. And unlike Sasori, they had no protection against his dojutsu.
