Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: A new Anbu Division-SOVC

The Daimyo thought deeply for a long moment while looking at Shota. His experienced eyes studied the injured young shinobi carefully. The hall remained completely silent as everyone waited for the ruler's decision.

"You are right," the Daimyo finally said. "I myself have noticed that the council of elders in Suna have gotten too much freedom. They act according to their own wishes. They act for their own benefits instead of thinking about the village or the country. Something must be done to curb their influence and make sure they continue with what is best for the village and not for themselves."

He continued speaking with clear authority. "Over the years, I have seen how some elders grow too comfortable in their positions. They forget that their power comes from serving the Land of Wind. They make secret deals, hide information, and put their personal interests first. This cannot continue if we want Suna and the entire country to remain strong. Your information today has opened my eyes even more to this problem."

The Daimyo leaned forward slightly on his throne. "I have allowed the hidden village too much independence in the past. That freedom has been abused by people like Elder Daigo. From now on, there must be better balance. The Kazekage and the elders must remember that they serve the country first, not their own ambitions. Your bravery in bringing this to me will not be forgotten, young Shota."

The two other shinobi who had accompanied Shota were still shocked by revelation after revelation. A traitor elder, Sasori of the Red Sand killing the Kazekage, and the Third Kazekage becoming a puppet — everything sounded too unbelievable.

They both knew that they were completely out of their league in this matter. Their eyes turned to the teenager who was carrying so much burden at such a young age. 'He is truly a true genius of Suna,' they thought with deep respect.

The Daimyo was thinking about what he could do. After several minutes of careful consideration, he finally looked directly at Shota.

"Shota Aizawa, you are strong. Someone who has managed to help slay a Kage, someone who survived a fight against a shinobi who managed to kill the Third Kazekage, and someone who is loyal to me, Suna, and the Land of Wind. And most importantly, you have an ability that makes you feared even among the strongest of the shinobi."

"I have previously been informed that you were part of the assassination as well as hunter-nin divisions of Anbu. I hereby declare that Suna would now have another division — SOVC, which stands for Supervisors of Village Corruption. You would be given the rights to arrest anyone in Suna with minimal proof if you believe that they were conspiring against the village or the country," the Daimyo announced.

The Daimyo explained the new division in detail. "You would be allowed to get six members in your team which would be working exclusively for you.

They and you would still serve as normal Suna shinobi and can do regular missions, but you would be the one choosing what missions you have to take part in. You would also be the sword against elders and even the Kazekage if they become too power-hungry. This new authority will help maintain balance inside the village. No one will be above suspicion if they threaten the stability of Suna or the Land of Wind."

He continued logically. "The elders have grown too bold over time. They need to know there is a check on their power. You, with your unique abilities and proven loyalty, are the perfect person to lead this division. Your dojutsu makes you ideal for investigating and stopping threats before they grow too dangerous. This is not just about punishing one elder. This is about creating a system that protects the village for many years to come."

The Daimyo made sure everyone understood the importance. "You will report directly to me in special cases. The Kazekage will still lead the village, but he will also know that corruption will not be tolerated. This new division will work alongside the existing Anbu but with special powers focused on internal threats. I believe this is the best way to prevent future betrayals like the one committed by Elder Daigo."

Everyone in the room turned to look at Shota. The power to arrest the elders of the council and even the Kazekage was too much power in the hands of someone as young as Shota. The samurai and shinobi guards exchanged uneasy glances. Such authority was almost unheard of for someone still in his teens. Yet no one dared to question the Daimyo's decision openly.

Shota was himself surprised. He had wanted the Daimyo to maybe abolish the council system or reduce their power in some other way. But to get the authority to investigate, eradicate, and oversee village corruption on his own was something he did not expect. Still, he welcomed it completely.

'This is more than I hoped for,' Shota thought. 'With this new division, I can actually make real changes. No more worrying about elders plotting in the shadows. I can protect the village properly now.' He felt a mix of excitement and heavy responsibility. The weight of this new role settled on his shoulders, but he was ready to carry it.

"My samurai and my personal shinobi would go to Suna to inform the council and Kazekage of this. And also with an arrest warrant for the elder. He would be punished for his crimes. I would entrust you with this responsibility, young Shota," the Daimyo said.

He then looked at Shota with a knowing smile. "And I would grant Sasori of the Red Sand a pardon as he uncovered such a scheme and his help would be much needed after the losses Suna had suffered in the war. His bounty would also be withdrawn."

Shota bowed deeply despite the pain in his body. "I thank you, Daimyo-sama, for your generosity and your long vision. Your wisdom shines like the sun over the desert, bringing light where there was once only darkness. Your decision today will be remembered as a turning point that saved Sunagakure from internal decay. Truly, the Land of Wind is blessed to have such a far-sighted ruler who thinks not just of today but of generations to come."

He continued with flowery words mixed with his own humor. "Your mercy toward Sasori nii-san fills my heart with joy. I shall make sure to drag him back to the village, even if I have to tie him up with my binding cloth and carry him like a grumpy package. Your kindness will surely inspire many lost shinobi to return to the right path. I am truly grateful beyond words for this opportunity to serve both you and the village with renewed purpose."

Shota then took a pause.

"Umm, can you wait for me to heal before we leave for Suna?" Shota said after the pause and then pointed at the iryo-nin woman. "Doctor's advice."

The iryo-nin, Ilumi, now got the full attention of the Daimyo, which made her want to run away and hide. Her face turned pale as the powerful ruler looked at her. She fidgeted nervously, wishing she could disappear into the floor. The great Daimyo was staring at her, a simple medical ninja, because of this stubborn patient. She gave Shota a look that clearly said she wanted to strangle him later for putting her in this position.

The Daimyo raised an eyebrow. "Doctor, what is your professional opinion on this young man's condition?"

Ilumi swallowed hard and spoke in a shaky voice. "Lord Daimyo, he has severe chakra exhaustion, burns, and a pierced shoulder. He should not be moving at all, let alone traveling. I advised at least two weeks of complete bed rest, but he refuses to listen. He is the most difficult patient I have ever treated!"

Shota gave an innocent smile while still kneeling.
