Chapter 138 - Chapter 138: Reaching the Capital

Shota somehow managed to convince the iryo-nin to take him to the capital by citing that the future of Sunagakure depended on this mission.

He spoke with as much seriousness as his tired body could manage, explaining that delaying even one day could cause serious problems for the village.

The medical ninja listened carefully, her face showing clear worry about his condition, but she finally gave in after a long discussion.

She asked to see if he was on an official mission and if she could see the mission scroll. Shota had to lie and said it was an S-rank mission given directly by the Kazekage himself. The woman looked hesitant but eventually agreed.

She decided to come along with him just in case he got more injured during the journey to the capital. She wanted to check on his injuries and heal him on the way. A strong chunin from the outpost was chosen to carry Shota on his back. The group left the outpost shortly after, moving quickly across the desert toward the Land of Wind's capital.

As they were on their way, Shota asked from the man's back, since he had nothing better to do. Well, except sleeping, but he was on a very important personal mission so he could not afford to sleep right now. "What is your name, miss?"

"Ilumi, Eraserhead-san," the medical ninja replied politely.

"You can call me Shota, you know," he said with a small smile.

Ilumi hesitated for a moment before asking, "Can you tell me even a little about your mission?"

"We are going there to see the Daimyo. Oh well, we are going to shake the foundation of Suna," Shota answered honestly.

Ilumi looked at him in horror. "You are not planning to assassinate the Daimyo, are you?"

Even the man who was carrying Shota stiffened as he heard that. His steps faltered for a second before he continued running.

Shota said, "Of course not. Why would you think that?"

Ilumi said with a sigh of relief, "Well, everyone knows that you work in the assassination department of Anbu so... I thought..."

"Well, nope, you thought wrong," Shota replied with a tired laugh. "I am not going there to kill anyone. I am going to speak with the Daimyo about important matters that affect both the Land of Wind and Sunagakure. It is more about politics and protecting the village than anything violent."

Ilumi still looked worried. "But shaking the foundation of Suna sounds quite serious. Are you sure it will not cause trouble for everyone?"

Shota nodded slowly. "It might cause some trouble in the short term, but it is necessary for the long-term safety of the village. There are people inside Suna who are working against the Kazekage and the village's best interests. I have proof, and I need the Daimyo to know about it."

The carrier chunin spoke up for the first time. "Lord Eraserhead, if this is truly that important, why not wait until you recover fully? Traveling in your condition seems dangerous."

"Because every day I wait gives the enemy more time to cover their tracks," Shota explained. "I cannot afford to rest when the village's stability is at risk. Besides, with Ilumi here to heal me on the way, I should be fine."

Ilumi sighed again. "You are very stubborn, Shota-san. Most patients would be happy to stay in bed for two weeks after injuries like yours."

Shota chuckled weakly. "If I stay in bed too long, I might get too comfortable and never want to leave. That would be bad for my reputation as the hardworking Eraserhead."

There was silence on their trip after that. It took them half a day of running to reach the Land of Wind's capital. The city walls appeared in the distance, grand and well-guarded. As they entered the city, Shota immediately guided them toward the Daimyo's estate.

The samurai guards as well as the shinobi guards appeared in dozens and surrounded them quickly.

"What is your purpose here, Suna shinobi? We were not informed of your arrival," the lead samurai said sternly.

"I want to seek an audience with the Daimyo. And I am not on an official mission here, so we did not go through the proper channels to meet the Daimyo," Shota replied from the carrier's back.

"And who are you to ask to meet the Daimyo! Do you think Lord Daimyo meets anyone who asks to come seek an audience, especially a kid like you who looks like he fell from stairs and got injured," some samurai who seemed to have it for Suna shinobi said mockingly.

'Alright, time to say something really cringy,' Shota thought.

"I am the youngest ever to be made chunin in Suna, the Eraserhead of Suna, the one who helped slay the strongest Raikage, the one who could stop even Kages from using chakra. I am Shota Aizawa," Shota declared.

His binding cloth along with his hair started floating as he gave his dialogue some dramatic effect. The anti-gravity field activated weakly due to his exhaustion, but it was enough to create an impressive scene.

Shota wanted to add "proud member of Pakura-sama's fan club, member of the highest league" to his introduction but kept it to himself. 'They won't understand the magnificence of that,' he thought with slight disappointment.

The samurai and shinobi now stiffened as they heard his name. Recognition and fear flashed across their faces. The Eraserhead of Suna was well-known even outside the village for his terrifying reputation.

"We would need to ask Daimyo-sama if he wants to see you. Do you have any purpose of coming here that we could tell him?" the lead samurai asked, his tone much more respectful now.

"I want to make him aware of the conspiracy that has been set against him from within Suna," Shota said clearly.
