In shock, Bri lifted her eyes from her plate, now staring at William with eyes wide open.
"What do you mean you told her?" she demanded softly. "You told Vanessa that you are married to me? When? Why? Bri was completely confused.
After a few seconds, even before William could answer, Bri asked again.
You know Vanessa?"
William gave a small, casual nod. "Mmh."
Bri blinked hard.
"You..you know Vanessa? How? Oh my God, is she?..Did you two? Now I get it..I mean, she is very pretty and classy. The kind of woman successful guys like you go for." She stopped, eyes widening further. "And all this time, I thought it was Kate that you were..you know..But great choice. Vanessa is way better than Kate. You have great taste and.."
William cut in immediately.
"Please don't get any ideas about me and Vanessa. I mean, she is a good person, but, I need you to understand this Brianna." He called her Brianna instead of Bri, his tone firm as he looked her straight in the eyes.
