Chapter 13 - Where were you Last Night?

When William stepped out of his car, Caroline, the Whitmore estate's long serving housekeeper, was already at the door to greet him.

"Hello, Mr. William. Welcome back home," she said warmly. "Should I have something prepared for you? A drink, maybe?"

William offered a polite smile. "Thanks, Caroline, but I won't be staying long. Where's Grandma?"

"She's at the veranda," Caroline replied. "Same spot as always."

William nodded and made his way through the house.

He stepped outside to find Grandma Eleanor seated comfortably at the wide veranda, a shawl around her shoulders, a cup of tea on the table beside her.

"Hey, Grandma," he said with a small grin, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "I've missed you."

Eleanor arched an eyebrow, though her eyes softened. "Flattery will not get you out of trouble, Willy." She reached up and pulled him into a brief hug before settling back in her chair. "Now, tell me , where is my granddaughter in law?"

William straightened slightly. "At the set shooting their new movie, Grandma."

"So you do know where she is? I know you haven't seen her since the wedding." Eleanor sounded upset as she continued.

"Don't play games with me, boy. You think I don't read the papers? You've been married for a day, and somehow you've already managed to make headlines. Where were you last night?"
