Brianna blinked awake, confused at first as she did not recognise her surroundings at first. The ceiling was too high, and the bed sheets smelled too nice, like lavender and money. Then it all came rushing back.. the garden, the violin, the kiss that barely lasted a second.
She groaned, rolling onto the other side and pulling the blanket over her head, but her phone vibrated nonstop on the nightstand.
She reached for it with a sigh and squinted at the screen.
Group chat: "The Survivors."
Anna: Morning, Mrs. Whitmore 💍✨ Be honest. How's Mr. Handsome? 😏
Jake: Mr Handsome? I thought we don't like him.
Anna: You can't deny he is handsome. Like… painfully so.
Jake: He is also an ass.
Jake: She is not replying. Should we call 911?
Anna: Don't be dramatic. Let them enjoy their first morning together 💕 If you know what I mean.

Bri groaned again as she tossed her phone onto the bed and rubbed her eyes, then it hit her..she didn't hear a sound all night. No footsteps, no door opening, nothing.
At the realization, she slipped out of bed, barefoot on the polished floor, and wandered through the penthouse.
She curiously peeked into a few other rooms. There was a study, a small gym, a minimalist lounge.. all were untouched.
Finally, she stopped outside what she assumed to be the master bedroom.
The door was slightly ajar. She pushed it open slowly, and she peeked in carefully.
The enormous bed was perfectly made, sheets smooth, with no sign anyone had slept there.
So he really didn't come home last night. On their wedding night.
The realisation stung, and her chest tightened as she headed back to her room.
She picked up her phone again and sat on the bed as she typed in the group chat.
He didn't even come home last night.
Her two best friends replied immediately.
Anna: Wait. WHAT? 😳
Did he say where he went?
Jake: You're kidding! What time did he leave?
Bri: Not kidding.
Anna: Maybe he's allergic to commitment?
Jake: Or to women 🫢
Bri: He received a call last night. Sounded work related. Should I call his grandmother to make sure he's alive? Or is this normal husband behavior?
Anna: Don't bother. Successful men are basically part time husbands. Especially the handsome ones 😜
Jake: He's probably with Kate. Doesn't she work at his company?
Anna: Oh no.
