Chapter 62 - CHAPTER 15 - The Silk Labyrinth

The Silk Labyrinth

We arrived at the towering iron gates, their intricate design hinting at the elegance that lay beyond. The watchman gave a polite nod and, with a soft creak, the gates slowly swung open. The car rolled forward, its tires whispering against the smooth, cobblestone driveway. The path ahead was framed by rows of tall, swaying trees, their leaves dancing in the gentle breeze, casting playful shadows on the ground.

The drive to the house felt like entering another world—one of tranquility and understated grandeur. Around 500 meters in, the estate revealed its heart: a sprawling modern mansion with gleaming glass panels that caught the golden hues of the setting sun. Aunt eased the car to a stop in front of the grand entrance, its wide stone steps leading up to a pair of majestic double doors.

I stepped out, taking in the faint scent of blooming jasmine from the nearby garden. Aunt offered a small smile before driving off to park the car in the sleek garage at the side, leaving me standing there, feeling as though I'd just stepped into a dream. The air was quiet, except for the soft rustle of leaves and the distant trickle of water from a hidden fountain, setting the perfect tone for what could only be the beginning of a beautiful story.

We walked into the house, and the sheer grandeur of it made my breath catch. If you were to ask me what kind of place it was, I'd only shrug and say, "Exactly the kind of house you'd imagine a celebrity living in." The foyer alone was larger than my entire apartment back home, with marble floors that gleamed like a mirror and a sweeping staircase that seemed to spiral toward the heavens. The air was faintly perfumed with lavender, and soft music drifted from unseen speakers, making the atmosphere feel almost surreal.

Aunt led us inside with a sense of practiced ease, her heels clicking softly against the floor. Without hesitation, she disappeared into one of the many corridors, leaving me and Jasmin standing awkwardly in the luxurious living room. Moments later, she returned, carrying a neatly folded set of clothes.

"Take these," she said firmly, handing them to me. "Go freshen up. You've been traveling all day. You'll feel better after a bath." Her tone left no room for argument. She thrust another set of clothes into Jasmin's hands, giving her the same command.

I didn't protest, though the idea of soaking in a lavish guest bathroom felt both thrilling and intimidating. I wandered into the guest room, which was just as opulent as the rest of the house, with plush carpets, silk curtains, and a bed that looked softer than a cloud. The bathroom was like a private spa—complete with a deep soaking tub, gleaming chrome fixtures, and shelves lined with luxurious bath products.

As I slipped into the warm water, the tension of the journey began to melt away. My thoughts drifted, wondering how I had ended up in such a place, in this strange yet exciting new chapter of my life. After changing into the soft, comfortable clothes Aunt had provided, I felt oddly lighter, almost like a different person.

Aunt's voice called from the kitchen, breaking my reverie. "Come here," she instructed, her tone softer now, almost inviting. I glanced at my reflection one last time, then headed toward the kitchen, curiosity tugging at my every step.
