Chapter 13 - Unfamiliar Man

The meeting room was silent.

Li Longwei sat at the head of the table like a king on his throne, his presence exuding a bone-chilling authority. His expression was calm, cold, and distant—yet oppressive enough to suffocate the air.

Unit B's members barely dared to breathe. Everyone had poured their heart into the project, yet it was painfully clear—the president was not satisfied.

Gu Suzuki felt a tightening in his chest under the immense pressure. Bai Muzi, though a novice, stood tall and composed. His confidence did not waver; his creative ideas were sharp and brilliant.

Bai Muzi delivered his presentation flawlessly, his voice steady, leaving no room for doubt.

Li Longwei lowered his gaze to the documents.

Then his expression darkened.

On the very first page—three grammatical errors.

Without a word, he tossed the documents onto the floor and stood up.

His icy gaze swept across the team.

"Redo it."

His voice was low and emotionless.

With that single sentence, he turned and walked out.

Only after the door closed did the team finally dare to exhale. Some looked as if they had escaped death; others were on the verge of tears. A few clasped their hands together, silently praying to Buddha.

Bai Muzi stood frozen, stunned.

At least… they had survived today.

That night, Unit B stayed in the company.

When the revised documents were finally approved by Li Longwei, it was already 3 a.m. By then, everyone dragged their exhausted bodies home.

Two days later, a joint meeting involving three companies would be held for the childcare government project. Because it involved government cooperation, every detail had to be flawless.

Li Longwei returned to the manor early in the morning. He changed into a casual shirt, ate breakfast quickly, and went straight into his study.

At 10 a.m., Jiang Yulin arrived.

The butler, Simon Dan, welcomed him with a polite smile.

Jiang Yulin entered the study leisurely.

Li Longwei glanced up, his brows knitting together.

"You're ten minutes late."

Jiang Yulin laughed lightly. "It's only ten minutes."

Li Longwei's gaze sharpened.

"Only?"

"Don't be angry" Jiang Yulin waved dismissively and sat down comfortably on the sofa, completely unfazed by the pressure radiating from his friend. He was already used to that stare.

"Where is he?" Li Longwei asked.

"He's on his way."

Li Longwei frowned slightly and sighed inwardly.

Jiang Yulin suddenly had a thought.

"By the way—where's Su Fengxi?"

Li Longwei didn't answer. He simply returned to his documents.

Jiang Yulin clicked his tongue. "Li Longwei, you're truly boring. If I had such a beauty living in my house..."

Before he could finish, the study door opened.

Simon Dan entered with snacks and juice.

Jiang Yulin's eyes lit up instantly. Since becoming a doctor, he barely had time to eat properly. Surgeries never gave him a break.

The moment the snacks were placed in front of him, he started eating eagerly.

Li Longwei, however, showed no interest. He had already eaten.

Simon Dan smiled respectfully.

"Master, Miss Su Fengxi is in the garden."

Li Longwei raised his brows slightly.

Jiang Yulin immediately stopped eating.

"Hm. Butler Dan, the snacks are excellent."

At the same time, Su Fengxi was strolling through the garden.

Blooming flowers surrounded her, vibrant and fragrant. She found the scenery soothing.

A servant approached her.

"Miss Su Fengxi, Mr. Jiang Yulin is here and wishes to see you."

Su Fengxi nodded and followed her.

The study door opened.

She stepped inside.

Two familiar faces and one unfamiliar one were seated inside.

Li Longwei gestured toward the sofa.

Su Fengxi sat down obediently, her posture gentle.

Jiang Yulin smiled warmly.

"It's been a while. How have you been feeling?"

"I'm fine," Su Fengxi replied softly.

Jiang Yulin hummed and studied her expression for a moment before asking,

"Do you remember anything from your past?"

Her eyes dimmed slightly.

"I've tried… but nothing comes back."

Li Longwei paused mid-page.

He lifted his gaze, stealing a glance at her subdued expression.

Another man sat beside Jiang Yulin.

His name was Pei Ting, Jiang Yulin's junior.

One of the top ten psychiatrists calm, reserved, and sharp.

Pei Ting spoke gently,

"Miss Su, I'm Pei Ting. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Su Fengxi smiled faintly.

"Nice to meet you too."

Jiang Yulin chuckled.

"Don't be afraid, little girl. He's here to help you recover your memories."

Su Fengxi's eyes brightened with excitement.

"Really? How?"

"We'll begin soon," Jiang Yulin said, then turned to glance at Li Longwei, who had been silently immersed in his work—as if nothing else in the room mattered.

Li Longwei noticed the gaze.

He stood up and walked toward them.

Pei Ting immediately rose to his feet. Despite his reputation, Li Longwei's presence still made him nervous.

The atmosphere shifted quiet, tense, and expectant.
