Chapter 6 - There's no such thing as *Vertical Ocean*

"No."

Yuki's voice got serious,and flat.

"An ocean, green, like plants. "

The playful, mysterious smile she usually wore was gone. Her face looked completely serious now, almost cold.

"Normal oceans are horizontal,"

she continued. "The ocean I said was vertical."

Luke felt something twist in his stomach. What on earth was she talking about? So he pressed the pause button on the camera and asked.

"hey babe, what are you talking about?"

Yuki's face stayed serious. "Why did you stop recording?"

"I just... you seem off. Are you okay?"

"Turn it back on."

"Yuki, there's no such thing as a vertical ocean. That's crazy. The viewers will think you've lost it."

She suddenly stepped up onto the coffee table. Now she was only a head shorter than him, looking almost directly into his eyes.

"WHY DON'T YOU RESPECT ME?"

she shouted.

Luke stepped back, startled. "What? I.."

"You think I'm lying? You think I'm crazy?" Her voice was loud, echoing in the empty lighthouse. "I'm telling you what I saw and you just dismiss it!"

"Yuki, calm down, I didn't mean it,and why are you so .."

"CALM DOWN?" Her voice got even louder. This tiny girl, barely five feet tall, was radiating more rage than Luke had ever seen from anyone. "Don't you DARE tell me to calm down!"

Luke just stood there, frozen. He had no idea what to do.

"Is that all I am to you?" Yuki's voice cracked. "Just some easy pussy you can fuck whenever you want? Just your little Japanese bitch who makes you money?"

"What? No! That's not.."

"You don't listen to me! You don't believe me!" She was shaking now, her fists clenched. "I tell you something real, something I actually SAW, and you treat me like I'm stupid! Like I'm just here to look cute for your camera!"

"Yuki, please.."

"Do you even care about me?" She was almost screaming now. "Or am I just content to you? Just another fucking prop in your videos like that dead plant I ate?"

Luke's mouth opened but no words came out. He'd never seen her like this. The sweet, playful girl was completely gone. The furious woman standing on the coffee table right now maybe a little bit dangerous.

"I'm sorry," he finally managed. "I'm sorry, babe, okay? I'll turn the camera back on and now you can talk about whatever you want."

Yuki stared at him for a long moment, breathing hard.

Then she stepped down from the coffee table.

"Forget it."

she said quietly, then walked toward the door, then stopped, and turned back to look at him in a abnormal peace, compared to what she just did.

"People who've never seen a vertical green ocean, are truly pitiful."

Then she went upstair.

**

Luke stood there alone in the dark, had no idea what she meant.

He felt so hopeless.

Why did he always end up tangled with these crazy, explosive bitches ??? Yuki was even worse than his psycho ex-girlfriend. At least Emily had just stolen his money and cheated on him, while this girl was something else entirely.

He couldn't even tell if he wanted to stay with her anymore. The sex was great, sure, and the videos were doing well. They had over five million subscribers now. But he really needed to calm down and think about what their relationship had become.

**A vertical green ocean.**

What the hell did that even mean?

So strange, so weird, how she could say something that made no sense at all !!!

...

Luke's head ached. He curled up on the couch that night, pulling a blanket over himself. The apartment was quiet except for the faint hum of the fridge and the restless sound of the leather couch creaking as he tossed and turned, the blanket brushing against it in the dark. He must have fallen asleep sometime around 3 a.m.

Then something smelling like rice woke him up.
