Chapter 15 - Chapter Fifteen

Elena's POV

I think I underestimated the brute my father gave me to as a wife. He carried me on his shoulders, ignored my outbursts and flung me at his reception. It was so darn embarrassing. Thank goodness that his receptionist, Mrs. Logan, a woman in her forties has tried to make me feel at ease.

"I wish I could have made it to your wedding with the boss, Mrs. Elena but I'm so glad that you are his significant other."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "You're glad?"

"Yeah," she looked around, as if she was making sure the coast was clear. "Most of the other women he brings around aren't wife worthy but you are."

I chuckled in my head. It would seem like she has a mouth on her and it would be to my benefit.

"What are the other women like?"

"The usual, socialites that are mostly with him for the glamor and money. Most treat us like we mean less than the ground the step on. You don't seem to be that way." She then gave me a pointed look.

"I think we would make good friends, Mrs. Logan. What do you think?"

I stood from the chair that Ryan had flung me on and moved closer to her, bringing out an arm for s handshake.

"That would be my pleasure, Mrs. Elena."

She wrapped her plumpy finger around mine.

"I see you've began making new friends without me, Elena." Rosalyn's cheeky voice resounded behind me. She had her arms wrapped around herself, in mock irritation.

"Well, I thought I needed to broaden the circle." A wide smile played on my lips.

We all giggled and I smiled at Mrs. Logan. "I'll see you some other time, friend." I threw her a salute and walked towards Rosalyn.

"Bye, Gina." Rosalyn then waved at Mrs. Logan.

"Gina?"

"Yes, that's her name." Rosalyn hooked out hands together and we walked towards the end of the hall and stopped in front of a large white door.

She twisted a door knob and opened it. She urged me to step inside and when I did my mouth opened in awe. Beautiful dresses littered the entire place, some were on mannequins while others were pleased neatly in piles.

"Wow! This place is beautiful, very beautiful. Is this your work station?"

Rosalyn had a bright smile on her lips and she nodded vigorously. "Yes, it is. What do you think?"

"It's so beautiful, I think I'll get a dress from you for any dinner I'm attending."

"I think you should, it would mean so much to me."

"What's your niche?"

I let go off her hand and began walking accross the large room. She followed me around with a smile on her lips.

"For now, mostly dresses. Not the simple kind though, for sophisticated dinners and such."

"That is so beautiful, I'd help you spread the word okay?"

"I would be so happy." She then took a pause and gave me a pointed look. "So tell me, how's life with my brother?"

I shrugged, not really knowing how to tell her that it's been terrible.

She walked close to me so fast and placed both hands on my shoulders. "I know you very well, Elena. How's life with him?"

I took a deep breath and sat down on a stool right next to me. "It's not the best you know. Since when we were in college I've always dreamed about getting married and living happily ever after with the man of my dreams."

"I know how badly must men hurt you because they knew how wholesome your love was."

"Now I'm trapped in a loveless marriage with your brother. He flaunts his mistresses in my face. Talks down at me any chance he gets. I'm so drained and tired already but there's no way out." Tears trickled down my cheeks and I couldn't even help it.

She wrapped her arms around me and didn't say a thing. I sobbed for a while in her arms and soon calmed down.

"Are you better now?" She asked.

I nodded but said nothing, looking elsewhere, I opened up myself to her too much.

"Never feel some kind of way. I'm so sorry you have to go through this, you are such a kind soul and deserve all the happiness in the world. I wish my brother could treat you as you deserve."

"Its okay, I just needed someone to share things with."

"I'll always be here okay?"

I nodded at her with a smile. "I know I'm supposed to be working but can I take a little nap here?"

"Sure," she then pointed at a sofa by the left corner of the large room. "You can take a nap there."

I smiled and walked to the sofa, taking off my shoes and lying down. In minutes I was out like light.

I felt a gentle nudge on my shoulders. "El?" Rosalyn's voice echoed in my ears.

I opened an eye lid and tried to turn so I could sleep even more.

"No you won't, get up. It's time for lunch, let's go and have some."

I tried to ignore her but she started poking me so I had no choice but to stand up.

"I'm up, you pest." I sat upright.

She looked at my appearance and giggled aloud. "You look like a mess, go to the mirror and put yourself together."

I rolled my eyes at her and pulled my feet towards the standing mirror. I actually look like hell, jeez. She handed me a comb and some lip gloss and in minutes I looked way better.

"Perfect, let's go to the cafeteria."

I walked in front of her and led the way. Oon we arrived at the cafeteria laughing at an inside joke.

"I'll go place an order for us both. What would you like?" Rosalyn stood beside me, as I took a seat.

"A burger and chips with soda." I said with a smile.

"You haven't changed, I'll be right back." She shook her head and walked towards the food area.

I took my phone out of my bag and started scrolling through Instagram.

"You think because you're now married to the boss, you can start skipping work?" A loud feminine voice echoed behind me making me turn.

An unfamiliar young woman with a little bit of too much make up and extremely tight clothes faced me with an unfriendly gaze.

"Can I help you?" I asked utterly confused.

"I can help you. I get that you think that because you're married to the boss you can skip work any way that you like."

"Who are you?"

"I'm Cara, I work with Accounting and you are supposed to be my intern working under me."

"You're my supervisor?"

"Finally, your slow brain is catching up."

I really wanted to be nice to the lady but it would seem like she wanted none of that.

"I understand that I'm supposed to work under you but you have no right to speak to me in such a derogatory manner."

She rolled her eyes at me, contempt clear as day on her face. "You're nothing special, I am still wondering why he picked you of all people as his bride."

"Ooooh is someone jealous cause she got used and dumped?" I answered staring at my finger nails.

"How dare you?" She reached out for my hair and this was exactly what I was waiting for. In seconds I landed a very hard slap on her face. The screech that came out of her mo

uth amde me smile with satisfaction.

"What the hell is going on here?" Ryan's deep baritone voice made us both freeze in our tracks.
