"I am not speaking empty words," Dalindra said coldly. "Tell me where you took my daughter, or I will stir out the beast."
Kaive did not move. "You won't," he said. "Because the moment you do… you will never see your daughter again."
With one arm still around Olessia, Kaive turned his back on the hall. The warning echoed behind them threatening, but he did not slow down. Gasps followed as he pulled her along, leaving the hall completely.
"Kaive…" Olessia called, her voice urgent.
He did not answer. His grip tightened instead unyielding, as he led her through the corridors.
When they reached his chamber, he pushed the door open and stepped inside. Only then did he release her. The door closed behind them with a dull thud.
She turned on him the moment the door closed. "How could you take such a risk?" Olessia snapped. "She threatened to stir out the beast. You know how hard I've worked to keep it buried. And you still walked out of the hall."
