Chapter 1 - the Elvo

"And the next Elvo goes to… Miro!"

He walks up, grinning from ear to ear, happy to receive his Elvo.

"Open it once you get home and make sure no one is in the same room as you."

Miro couldn't resist anymore and grabbed the box out of the giver's hand.

"You got it, sir!"

With a big silly grin on his face, he ran down the staircase of the big castle. There wasn't anyone left to cheer him on since he was the last one left. Only the higher-ups lived at the castle, but no one was allowed to see them only Elvos could.

Once Miro got outside, he jumped with joy. His horse was standing outside too, with its beautiful hair that was braided and decorated with flowers.

"Wait, who braided Horsy?" Miro walked up, confused, as he petted Horsy.

"Maybe… it was my soulmate." His eyes glistened at the thought of his soulmate, who might have been here.

"Well, there's only one way to find out."

He hopped on his horse, and they rode away from the castle. It was a long road to Miro's house, he had to go through the mysterious Fog Woods, the low-class street where thieves were always lurking, and not to forget his own little village, where he lived at the very, very end. He had to take multiple breaks to feed himself and his horse, but after a long journey, he finally got home. He was all sweaty, but home.

Miro groaned, throwing himself dramatically onto the bed. Since his parents were away on their extended version of a honeymoon, he was always all alone at home. He got used to the silence around him and became independent at a young age, teaching himself the things his parents should have taught him.

His head was deep in thoughts.

"Let's open this."

He carefully removed the top of the box. Lights started flashing everywhere, and a mini creature came out of it. It could easily fit in Miro's hand. The creature was blueish-red and had mini wings and a beautiful small tail.

"Hello, sir. You must be Miro." The Elvo bowed to Miro as they floated in the air. "I'm your Elvo."

Miro was absolutely awestruck and bowed to his Elvo in joy.

"I am so happy to finally meet you-" His Elvo interrupted him.

"Why are you bowing?" They had a confused look on their face.

"Excuse me?" Miro looked up as he was still on his knees.

"Yes, excuse you. Never in my life have I seen this before a human bowing to an Elvo. Interesting."

"Was I not supposed to?" Miro was still confused.

His Elvo burst out laughing.

"HA HAAA, I'm just playing with you! You can bow to me if you want, silly boy."

Miro got up slowly, feeling stupid for almost believing them.

"You really need to work on your jokes," he said dryly.

"I'm an extension of your personality. I wouldn't make jokes like that if you wouldn't make jokes like that, got it?" The Elvo flew around the room.

"Are you saying that… my jokes are lame?" Miro was shocked by his Elvo turning out like this.

They started flying faster.

"Haha! I never said your jokes are lame, but I guess if you say it yourself, then I'd also say it."

"Hey! Stop flying so fast! I thought you were supposed to help me find my soulmate!"

They stopped flying and looked Miro right in his dark blue eyes.

"Yes, you're right. I almost forgot the introduction song."

They cleared their throat.

"Hello I'm an Elvo,

I don't have a name,

Just call me Elvo,

That'll be okay,

I'm here to help you

Find your one and only,

Soulmate, yeah that's true,

So you won't be lonely."

Miro raised his eyebrow.

"At any time, every day,

You can ask me questions,

I will show you your way,

And give date suggestions,

Therefore I'm an Elvo,

Creature made to help find loooveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,

Tadaaa!"

They panted frantically, clearly out of breath.

Miro clapped his hands, impressed by the song.

"That's so cool! Now, when you said at any time every day, does that mean I can ask you something right now?"

Elvo glared at him.

"No, ask me later."

"What? But you said-" They interrupted him again.

They grabbed him by his collar with their tiny hand.

"Listennn, boy. I'm exhausted because I have the stamina of an Elvo, which is even worse than a newborn baby. You should go shower and let me catch my breath before you ask questions."

"Shower??"

"I know my performance was fantastic and you must have been really excited about it, but you are so sweaty, it's seriously-"

Miro talked over them, but they couldn't hear him.

"What? No… it was okay… I'm sweaty because I traveled 3 hours on horseback… whatever."

He stood up to go to the shower.

While in the shower, he sank into thought, questioning how this creature was going to help him find his soulmate. His heart longed for love it had been empty for so long. Around him, there was no one he could give love to or receive love from. That's why he was determined to find his soulmate.
