Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: 3D Printed Human Skin Mask

[You have drawn '3D Printed Human Skin Mask']

Seeing the advanced technology item he had drawn, Toru raised an eyebrow.

This item seemed to be from Mission: Impossible, where Tom Cruise and his team used a 3D printed human skin mask to impersonate others and complete their missions.

It was similar in concept to Vermouth and Kid's disguise techniques. The difference was, one relied on skill, the other on technology.

Toru's curiosity was piqued as a heavy box appeared beside him.

He picked it up and opened it. Inside was a rectangular device.

Toru brought over his laptop, connected it to the instrument, and opened a 3D printing modeling software. He randomly grabbed a photo of someone online, loaded it into the software, and hit the print button.

The device began to hum. Less than a minute later, a human skin mask formed inside the machine.

He opened the lid, took out the mask, and carefully placed it over his face.

Standing in front of a mirror, he studied the result. He couldn't tell it was a mask. It looked completely real.

Toru sighed.

Normally, since everyone's head shape is different, a generic human skin mask shouldn't be able to fool anyone. It should be obvious that it's a fake layer of skin.

But in this world, whether it was this piece of advanced tech or Vermouth's disguise skills, they could perfectly blur the line between real and fake.

"With this gear, future covert ops just got a whole lot easier."

His identity, having been sent to Japan by Spencer, was already semi-exposed. Especially since the Black Organization already knew who he was.

Using his real identity for certain missions wasn't ideal. But now that he could change faces, he could take on a new persona for tasks like assassinations or intel theft.

He closed the box, locked it with a code, then turned his attention to the Spirit Vision he had received.

Back in America, he had tried using Spirit Vision to see what ordinary people couldn't, but saw nothing.

At first, he thought it didn't work outside of Asia. Now that he was in Japan, he tried again. He calmed his breathing, focused, and activated the Spirit Vision.

Still, nothing.

"Strange. Are there no ghosts or spirits in this world? Then why do I have Spirit Vision? Is it a useless ability?"

Toru frowned, completely puzzled.

He opened a secured site on his laptop. It was the CIA's internal network.

After passing identity verification, he began searching the database for classified information.

If supernatural powers or ghosts truly existed, the CIA would definitely have records of them.

In the last sixty years, America had been the most powerful nation, and the CIA was arguably the world's top intelligence agency.

In the internal database, there were indeed reports of supernatural phenomena. But none of them were considered dangerous. Forget ending humanity, they weren't even worth stressing over.

"Two possibilities. One, my clearance level isn't high enough to access the more sensitive files."

"Two, supernatural abilities do exist in this world, but they're too weak to pose a threat. Otherwise, humanity would've been wiped out by now."

Toru shook his head.

He actually preferred if this world didn't have too many bizarre elements.

In a normal world, with his physical capabilities and skillset, he could live like a real-life superhuman.

But if this world had beings that surpassed human limits, then brute strength wouldn't cut it. He'd have to learn a new system altogether.

Then again, in this world, there were even drugs that could shrink a person's body and age. So it wasn't exactly normal either.

Toru hadn't fully explored the Western-style mansion yet. Since this was going to be his base during university life, he needed to familiarize himself with it.

He strolled through the mansion, inspecting the various Italian furnishings.

Toru ran his fingers over the furniture. Some pieces looked fairly new. Others were clearly older.

He wasn't a germaphobe, but he wasn't a fan of using second-hand stuff either.

"I'll make time to replace all of this. Might be a good idea to dig out a basement too."

He rubbed his chin in thought.

A basement could store weapons and other items better kept hidden. After all, Japan had strict firearm laws. Some things couldn't be left out in the open.

And if he was going to match the elegance of this Western-style mansion, the furniture had to be top-shelf. The kind where a single sofa could cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Fortunately, his personal account still had several million in U.S. dollars. He wasn't running out of funds anytime soon.

In the past, Toru operated under official cover identities created by the CIA. Back then, he had to be cautious when it came to handling money. Too much private activity could trigger internal audits.

But now that he was in Japan and officially running the branch here, with access to the 3D printer, he could forge new identities using private channels instead of going through headquarters.

That would make managing untraceable funds much easier in the future.

He arrived at the far end of the second floor. This room was wide and filled with natural light. A Yamaha grand piano sat in the center, hinting that this had once been a music room.

On the piano's stand, there was a clean, delicate doll that looked just like Shinku.

Toru walked over and took a closer look. The doll was old, but very well preserved.

"Did the previous owner forget to take this?"

He picked it up and played with it for a moment, then gently set it back down.

There were no personal items left in the mansion. The former owner must have taken everything when they moved out. Only this doll remained, looking oddly out of place.

Toru didn't think much of it and continued walking through the house, familiarizing himself with the layout.

If something ever happened, he needed to know the structure of the building. Once that was done, he returned to the study.

In the past, Toru had been part of the action team. Now, with one foot in the management side, the part he disliked most was writing reports.

Since this was his first time writing one as a branch chief, he wasn't used to the format. It took him a while to finish it.

He glanced at the time on his phone. It was already past nine at night. He hadn't eaten dinner and was starting to feel hungry.
