Chapter 27 - Slacking Champion (Please Vote!)

Hey guys, I just launched an awesome fic called Naruto: Courting Death In The Ninja World, and it is one of the funniest books I've read.

Along with the Pokémon book I am translating, they are one of the greatest books. I only start translating a book after reading atleast 70-80 chapters and liking it.

Since I do it all manually, this shit takes a lot of time, so I would appreciate it if you guys check out my Patreon. Thanks.

Sinnoh region, Valor Lakefront.

The vacation hotel beside Valor Lakefront, shaded by greenery, with sea breezes blowing.

Beside the rooftop open-air pool, a soft-shell mollusc creature, Gastrodon, was licking pool water with its tongue.

Elegant, dignified Glaceon obediently lay under the sun umbrella, eyes squinting with a tiny yawn.

The blonde beauty lay on a beach chair, draped in a white towel, damp golden hair casually scattered.

Scooping an ice cream ball, Cynthia held the spoon in her mouth, continuing to focus on the handheld console before her.

[GAME OVER]

"So difficult..."

"Can't pay-to-win? So troublesome..."

Cynthia sighed, putting down the PSP, standing from the beach chair on fair, well-proportioned, long legs.

Pushing open the glass door, entering the coolly air-conditioned interior.

Under the AC, a sinister Spiritomb was attempting to disguise itself as a potted plant.

Three days had passed since Lucian's challenge. This was Cynthia's rare vacation time.

Though on duty, Cynthia's daily routine was just slacking off.

Occasionally visiting Eterna City to research inscriptions, sometimes browsing Canalave City library, and even shopping with Diantha when schedules permitted.

But Elite Four challenges still had to be accepted; this counted among Cynthia's few duties.

Sinnoh region, after Team Galactic leader Cyrus's conspiracy failed, Cyrus fell into the Distortion World without a trace.

Precisely why, compared to Kanto's restless Team Rocket and Unova's hard-to-eradicate Team Plasma, Sinnoh's Champion position seemed incredibly relaxed.

Reportedly, Hoenn's Champion was even more relaxed, digging stones worldwide, eventually even transferring Champion status to others.

Compared to Steven, Cynthia confidently felt that her slacking was reasonable and proper.

This vacation totalled three days.

Cynthia decided to seize this rare opportunity, clearing the desired games first.

After all, once the vacation ended, there'd be Attribute Expert Tournament, the Masters Tournament; wanting to game would be too late!

Cynthia used a comb to straighten her fluffy golden hair.

Holding a hair tie in her mouth to tie her hair, not a single strand fell during this process.

Even Diantha envied Cynthia's hair quality, most enjoying threading ten fingers through Cynthia's golden hair.

But Cynthia didn't have direct impressions.

Just because of immersion in mythology research, plus busy tasks as the initial Champion, she let her hair grow naturally.

Unconsciously, Cynthia's golden hair reached waist-length, instantly recognisable everywhere.

Whenever Diantha invited Cynthia shopping, carefully wearing sunglasses, seeing that dazzling golden hair, she knew her disguise was wasted.

"Hmm, what other games..."

Cynthia sat cross-legged on the floor, slender fair legs like porcelain.

The LCD screen before her was connected to the console, a menu list full of games, but Cynthia had nearly collected all the trophies.

After handing Garchomp a controller, politely refused by Garchomp, Cynthia smiled, searching for single-player games.

"Pokémon Battle... haven't played this in ages. Let's try!"

Cynthia's eyes brightened, connecting voice-command equipment, opening Pokémon: Battle game interface.

To avoid trouble, Cynthia didn't use her verified account in Pokémon: Battle.

This also prevented Sinnoh Elite Four's Bug-type Aaron and Fire-type Flint from discovering... those two were too weak; gaming with them was boring.

The matchmaking interface rotated. Cynthia was somewhat curious.

"Eastern region player? Very rare."

"Singles, one decisive match?"

Cynthia looked at the rule explanation in surprise, mouth curving slightly.

"As expected, must use Garchomp."

In a virtual image, Cynthia threw a Poké Ball. Sharp-scythed Garchomp roared onto the field.

Garchomp eating Poké Blocks nearby raised its head, glancing at the display, eyes flashing disdain before burying its head back in the bowl.

On the other side, red light flashed. Grinning Gengar floated on the field, emitting sinister laughter.

"Which Ghost-type trainer, quite confident..."

Mid-sentence, Cynthia's eyes sharpened, commanding lowly, "Crunch!"

In potential distribution, this was maximum-speed Garchomp, shaped like a cannonball, charging straight at Gengar.

Its spindle-shaped dragon tail tore airflow, triggering sonic booms.

Garchomp opened its gaping maw, lunging to bite Gengar fiercely!

"Gao!"

A resilient barrier opened before Gengar. Under Protect's defence, Garchomp was instead forced back several meters.

Simultaneously, mournful singing rang from Gengar's mouth. Garchomp visibly shuddered!

Cynthia frowned.

Reality's Perish Song used fear-filled sound waves to continuously weaken enemy's willpower.

After a period, Perish Song made enemies completely lose battle will.

This wasn't a physical attack, thus rarely used by trainers in reality.

But once Pokémon lost battle will, it counted as a defeat in formal matches.

Cynthia pondered deeply.

Could this Eastern region trainer be an expert in psychological tactics?

Above Garchomp, Perish Song's remaining time was clearly displayed.

If unable to finish the battle within five minutes, the system would automatically declare Cynthia's loss based on Perish Song effects.

Cynthia pondered momentarily. "Garchomp, Dragon Rush!"

Garchomp charged again like a burning meteor, rapidly crossing the field's airspace.

Cynthia's other Pokémon were also attracted by this scene, gathering before the display, obediently watching Cynthia's game.

Simultaneously, Gengar's Protect barrier lit up again.

Cynthia smiled slightly, eyes sharpening. "Now, Dig!"

Gengar's Protect was clearly within Cynthia's expectations.

With Dragon Rush's speed, Garchomp plunged underground, nearly instantly drilling behind Gengar!

"Gaaooo!!"

Garchomp burst from underground, swinging dual scythes, 'slash', tearing Gengar's body!

Dig dealt double damage directly to Gengar!

On the other side, Lu Ye was brazenly commentating.

"What trash Pokémon is Garchomp? Can it even hit Gengar?"

"My Gengar has Levitate ability!"

"Nani?!"

"My Levitate ability must be fake. Ground-type Dig can hit this?"

"Hahahaha karma for Teacher Lu!"

"Opponent's command is so aggressive, has Master-level battle vibes!"

"Fooled you, Teacher Lu. You have days getting predicted, too!"

"But it's okay."

Lu Ye smiled faintly. "Because we're carrying Focus Sash!"
