Chapter 3 - 3. A Human Appartment is Not a Fairy Castle

Lyria stood in front of the apartment door, clutching a key that looked far too ordinary for her taste. No jewels, no runes, not even a sparkle. Just… metal. Dull, boring metal.

"So this is where humans live?" she murmured, puffing her cheeks. "It doesn't even hum with mana. Not a single singing wall. How do these people live in these garbage bins." says the one who literally ended up in a actually garbage bin the first time she arrived in this world.

Beside her, Puff circled the air like a tiny glowing bee.

"Maybe it's an invisible castle! You just need to believe, Your Majesty!"

Lyria jabbed the key into the lock and twisted. The door creaked open to reveal—

A cramped room with beige walls, one flickering bulb, and a suspicious smell coming from somewhere near the sink.

"Ah… yes." She exhaled, unconvincingly. "Totally… regal."

She floated in, nearly hitting her head on the ceiling fan.

"Who builds ceiling traps in their homes?! Humans are savages!" says puff.

With a dramatic sigh, she sat on the bed (which squeaked loudly in betrayal). The mattress dipped like it was apologizing.

"Puff, I decree that this land is officially… unfit for fairy habitation."

"But, Your Majesty, it's got a window! Maybe we can see the stars?" puff said.

Lyria turned toward the tiny window. The view was mostly a brick wall and someone's laundry flapping like defeated flags.

She bit her lip.

"At least the wind still moves freely… that's something."

For a brief moment, the fairy queen's shoulders relaxed. The human world was strange and ugly, yes—but also alive.

Then the light bulb flickered again, and she screamed.

"IT'S CURSED!"

Puff sighed. "It's just electricity…"

"Then exorcise it!!" Lyria said dramatically.
