"I didn't expect you to leave just like that. After all the storms and rumors, nothing ever took you down, and now that everything's starting to get better, you're leaving instead. Anyway, I wish you all the best. We'll still be good friends, right?"
Eve nodded. "Yeah. It'll be tough for you having to find someone to take over for me again. All my work stuff is on my desk. President Sutton said there's no need for me to hand things over—just leave directly."
"Alright then. You'd better pick up when I call you in the future, or I'm going to be mad."
"Got it. I'm off."
Eve shook hands with him, and, since there weren't many people in the office yet, she went downstairs alone.
"President Sutton, why did you approve it? With Sherman gone from the secretary pool, what are we going to do? Now we don't even have one reliable person left, and Lynn isn't here either. I'm afraid I'll be overwhelmed by myself."
"It's fine, just find someone new, or call Joshua Crawford back for a while."
