Amelia slowly opened her eyes, blinking at the unfamiliar ceiling above her.
This wasn't the rooftop.
Her brows knitted in confusion. She turned to her side and her breath caught.
Aldric was sleeping peacefully beside her.
Her first time waking up next to him.
Amelia stared quietly. His lips looked soft, too soft. She reached out, brushing her fingertip across them, eyes widening at the warmth.
Her hand drifted down to his throat, lightly grazing his Adam's apple.
She snatched her hand back immediately, smiling to herself like a shy thief.
Her gaze wandered to his eyelashes. They were long… unfairly long for a man.
She reached for his hair next, threading her fingers through the soft strands. Warm. Silky. Too tempting.
After a while, her fingers grew tired and she pulled them away.
A faint smile tugged at Aldric's lips.
He opened his eyes.
Amelia froze.
"Done playing?" he asked, voice low, amused.
"I—I wasn't playing" she stammered, cheeks igniting.
