Ned sat behind his desk, a cooperation agreement over a hundred pages thick spread out before him — the contract for the new Southeast Asia port project.
Knock, knock. The door was rapped twice.
"Come in!"
Alex pushed the door open and walked in, still wearing his school uniform. The quadruplets had started primary school, and even the youngest, Emily, had joined preschool. All four attended the same school and were thrilled about it.
Seeing Alex, Ned said, "Wait a moment. I need to make a call. Take this document and have a look." He put down his pen, gestured toward the sofa with his chin, and handed over the Southeast Asia port project file.
Alex took the document, placed his school bag beside his feet, and sat down obediently, reading it carefully.
Ned dialed the number and began speaking fluent German. His pace was steady, neither too fast nor too slow, and his tone remained calm and confident throughout.
