Chapter 19 - Since You're Already Here

For three consecutive days, a group of diners gathered around here, clutching food containers and eating voraciously. Such a scene naturally attracts the residents living nearby.

It's no big deal for business to be good for a day, and two days are fine too, but when the trade is so good for three days straight, even the foreigners who aren't keen on queuing can't suppress their curiosity and want to know what exactly is being sold here.

The most important thing is, there's no menu!

Even if the names of the dishes are written on a board, it's apparent that they are entirely different from what one would understand, making it pointless to look.

"Is this a salad?"

"Various vegetables with dressing and oil, plus a staple and some meat... Hmm, from the structure, it does look quite like one."

Lucas is a security guard at the mall nearby, and he finishes work around ten every night.

Passing by for three days in a row, he noticed there were still many people crowded in front of this newly arrived food truck, and some were even holding cameras to take photos and videos. Since he didn't have dinner today, he decided to buy a portion and try it.

Before he even bought it, as soon as he got within ten meters of the food truck, he caught a whiff of a rich and spicy aroma.

Sniffing a few times with his head raised, he just felt his stomach grow even hungrier, as his mouth flooded with saliva.

Getting closer, he realized these people were filming a promotional video, including the food preparation process.

A glance at the monitor above the food truck quickly enlightened him.

He's seen this happen a lot, commonly at the mall. Typically, such shops are new openings and have price discounts.

"Boss, how much is your salad?"

After the filming was done, Lucas stepped forward to the window.

"5 euros for 500g of your choice, 3 euros for 100g of this."

"Hmm? That cheap?"

Lucas's interest piqued, and his gaze fell upon the strange meat dish with a translucent appearance intertwined with white lines, "What's that?"

"Pig ears."

"Oh, so it's pig... ears???"

A chill ran down his spine suddenly; he reckoned maybe he wouldn't have to eat the meal.

Then he looked at the black slices resembling ears and the strange tofu full of holes and shook his head, decisively turning to the Brasil Food Truck next door.

This place was terrifying; Asians eat everything, even ears!

Arriving at the Brasil Food Truck, without glancing at the menu, he familiarly ordered, "One beef cheese taco, one smoked pork corn taco."

"Sure thing!"

After naming the dishes, he prepared to pay.

He looked up.

Seeing Boss Brazil leaning on the table, clutching a transparent food box, gobbling down a salad covered in red oil, with oil dripping from his mouth, visibly content.

The guy making tacos was stirring ingredients on the griddle while sneaking glances at his boss, swallowing hard repeatedly.

"?"

Lucas was a bit bewildered.

What's the situation here?

Could the boss be eating a salad from the place next door?

As soon as the thought emerged, he watched Boss Brazil pick up a piece of pig ear with chopsticks and shove it into his mouth. Even though there was more than a meter away, he could hear the crisp crunch of chewing.

"Oh my god!"

Boss Brazil looked at the box of pig ears in shock, picked up a few more pieces and stuffed them into his mouth, nodding as he chewed.

"So pig ears have this texture; it seems they were cooked with something beforehand and then cooled, quite flavorful, paired with these spices, it's perfect, I feel inspiration flowing endlessly!"

"Hey bro, what do you think about me launching a new spicy pig ear taco? I think it will sell like crazy!"

Lucas:......

Sensing it's great, better not feel it next time.

Receiving the hot beef cheese taco, he took a big bite, savoring the wonderful sensation of beef chunks mixed with cheese in his mouth, nodding in satisfaction.

Late-night, tacos still give a sense of fulfillment.

Especially with the sweet and sour tomato salsa and soft avocado sauce, paired with the salty and spicy beef chunks, it's truly tantalizing.

"Hey bro, your noodles!"

Just when he was delightfully eating, Lin Chen handed over a box of mixed noodles to the boss in the food truck.

"Thanks bro, want some tacos?"

"Maybe next time, had too much today haha~"

"Alright, I'll remember your face, bring your friends next time, buy one, get one free, no going back!"

Boss Brazil waved to Lin Chen and eagerly opened the noodle box, stirred a few times, and started slurping, ignoring the heat.

"Slurp slurp"

Contrary to his expectations, the noodles were cold, probably rinsed with ice water, incredibly chewy.

The sauce wrapped on the surface at first tasted like a salad dressing, but soon with more chewing, he found the flavor slightly different, the sour and sweet more prominent.

Boss Brazil slurped a couple of bites, feeling something was missing, instinctively added some salad to the noodles and slurped them together.

With just one bite, his eyes lit up.

"?!"

"Indeed!!"

The crunchy various vegetables paired with chewy noodles can fully evoke the aroma of red oil and nuts, complemented with crispy red oil pig ears, creating an illusion of becoming increasingly appetizing.

Seeing the boss eating so deliciously, Lucas couldn't deny being curious.

But thinking about pig ears...

Shaking his head, he stuffed the last bite of taco into his mouth, grabbed the pork corn taco, and left.

Can't stay here too long, it's too risky. Staying longer might make him worry about the frightening thought of wanting to taste pig ears.

But.

Just a dozen meters away, he stopped, feeling a bit unwilling.

Since he's already here, how could he leave empty-handed?

"Just don't eat pig ears, problem solved, aren't there so many vegetables and noodles? I'll choose what I know, surely can't go wrong!"

He soon convinced himself.

Just like the first time eating street Brasil barbecue when he saw the chef spreading sauce with bare hands, grasping and mixing, then packing it into the box for him, nearly vomiting on the spot.

Isn't he happily eating it now?

"Boss, give me a box!"

Lin Chen seeing this guy return didn't say anything, handed him an empty takeaway box.

Lucas cautiously picked some ingredients he recognized, then repeatedly confirmed with Lin Chen that these were vegetables, with no strange meat, and boldly chose a little of the unfamiliar ones.

Who knows? It might taste good?

Didn't Boss Brazil eat so happily?

"Can you handle spicy?"

Receiving the box, Lin Chen casually asked.

Lucas proudly raised his head: "Of course! I can eat super spicy chicken wings, none of my friends can out-spice me! Go ahead! Add lots!"
