Chapter 30 - Ambush or…Hunt?

(A/N– Hey guys, thank you for supporting my novel with gifts and Gts. As a thank you, here is an extra chapter. Enjoy!)

The Auction had ended, and he had sent Vivianne to collect their share. After the useless drama, he too had bought some items from the auction. And this time, the bastard had learned his lesson and kept quiet.

A few high-grade mana pills and a strange…Scythe. It was rusted, old, and unsettling. But he bought it anyway. The auctioneer said that it was found in some ruins inside the Silverleaf forest.

It wasn't cheap. It costed 1 high-grade and 500 mid-grade Mana crystals!

Soon, Vivianne returned with a smile on her face.

"Here! We have made a total profit of two high-grade crystals!"

Though she had more than enough wealth, she couldn't help but feel impish. Extorting money was always a great feeling!

"Heh, I will be sure to reward your hard work tonight," Rahu smirked, pocketing the ring. Bringing his lips closer, he whispered.

"Vivianne, at the count of three, runs towards the south. There's an abandoned area. Meet me there," He winked.

Vivianne's eyes narrowed, realization dawning on her. She nodded slightly.

"3…2…1 RUN!"

Both of them dashed towards the south, where an abandoned area lay. It was exactly 50 miles away from their current location.

"SHIT! THEY SPOTTED US! FOLLOW THEM"

Dozens of masked men rushed towards the running couple. But because of their head start, they were gone in a swoop.

...

A while before…

In a dark alley, a bit away from the BlackThorn Auction hall.

"Team Leader, are you sure he is that guy?" a masked man asked, behind him, ten others standing with the same mask.

The team leader, a lean, tall man with rough facial features, was standing, observing Rahu walking out.

"Indeed, he is, but didn't the reports say that he has zero cultivation and is a waste?" The leader, named Shade, spoke.

"But isn't he looking a bit…confident for a No-cultivation waste?" another masked guy spoke, a bit confused.

"Our Intels are definitely not wrong. He ran from the Silverleaf forest, and one of our spies contacted us and told us that he is in Divine Sword City."

"But how is that possible?"

More and more whispers and arguments followed until,

"Enough. Even though there seemed to be a mistake in the report, the Mana signature provided is unmistakable. It's him—one of the top on the kill list—Rahu."

The leader spoke in a calm and confident voice, "And besides when though he got a bit of cultivation, he's still in the 8th-stage of Body Structuring Realm, lure him somewhere quiet and finish the job quickly."

All masked men nodded, quickly assuming positions, soon, they spotted Vivianne returning and whispering something to Rahu.

Rahu seemed to nod, then it seemed the two whispered to each other for a second, then—

Whoosh

They…they ran off!

""SHIT! THEY SPOTTED US! FOLLOW THEM"

Soon they arrived in a deserted area, where the houses were broken, and the soil was dry, where barely any life could be spotted.

"SEARCH THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS!!"

The leader shouted, nodding, and the assassins started to look around. Inside houses, behind bushes, and whatnot.

"Hmm? What is that?" An assassin spotted a shiny ring behind a certain bush, just as he entered a meter into range.

Fwoosh!

Tchhk!"

A terrifying purple light flashed; the assassin didn't even have the time to respond before his head fell down with a dull thud.

"H-he's there!" shouted one of the assassins. With the leader, they soon arrived in front of Rahu, forming a semi-circle.

"You guys sure are brave following me all the way here, with your mere 5th-stage Vital Core Realm cultivation." An arrogant voice thundered!

From the bushes emerged a handsome man, grinning. It was unnatural and demonic to the core.

Indeed, only the leader was a 5th-stage Vital Core Realm cultivator; the rest were peak Body Structuring realm wastes.

"Are you the leader?" Rahu pointed at the guy who was standing the closest to him.

"No I a—"

Slaash

THUD

"Hmph, fool," Rahu snickered. Without warning, he ducked as a knife flashed past his neck, missing by a hair's breadth.

All the assassins dared not be careless; two had already paid the price. They rushed towards, slashing their swords, throwing their knives, and sometimes they even threw poison tubes.

Their formation was impeccable, their coordination impressive, but—all of that fell meaninglessly.

With how ferocious Rahu was slaughtering, their killer moves were a tad bit…slow.

Not to mention. Even their leader had lost half his arm when he tried to block that horrendous [Sword Aura].

Slash!

Thud!

"W-what is this monster!?" Only three assassins were left of the original ten!

"He had mastered [Sword Intent]! DO NOT TOUCH THAT!

They were all terrified! This monster took out seven of them one by one, and not a single scratch could be seen on his body, aside from that crazed smirk which was plastered on his face from the beginning!

"Back off! I will handle this." The leader calmed his nerves forcefully. They had been provided with the wrong information! Where's the no-cultivation waste? Still, they had to make it out alive.

The leader's eyes glowed fiercely, his body turning slightly dark. The area below his foot turned dark and,

Fwoosh!

He disappeared; Rahu's hair stood on edge as he forced his [Sword Aura] behind his back.

Clung!

The leader's speed had increased threefold! It seems he had mastered the elusive Shadow Element.

"Hahaha, good, good! That's how a challenge should be! Bring it on bitch!" Rahu laughed madly, as his [Sword Aura] started to condense densely in his hand.

His violet eyes glowed with an otherworldly sheen.

Slash!

Clang!

The assassin leader didn't respond; he kept focusing on speed and slashing. Even with just a single arm, he was still overwhelming. He started to target his hands, his tendons, and ligaments.

The fight was epic, bright violet and black lights were illuminating the surroundings. The clashing swords added their own rhythm to the battlefield.

The leader, soon, because of his superior cultivation and raw speed, started to gain the upper hand as he forced Rahu back. He got in Rahu's range, just as he was about to slash his knife at his neck to end him for good,

"THRAA-SHUNK!"

A black rusty scythe passed through his torso, severing him cleanly in two halves,

"W-When?"

Even at the end, he didn't know how he died.

"Mhm, the scythe's not bad."

With a horizontal swing, he finished off the last two assassins who were trying to run away.

"I have to break through to the Vital Core Realm soon. My enemies are coming back stronger and stronger ". Saying that.

"My friends, isn't it time you came out? How long are you going to hide?" Rahu smirked as he turned towards a certain direction.
