Winterfell in Peril
The snow had thickened into walls of white, piling higher than any mortal had seen. Winterfell groaned beneath its weight, and the cold carried whispers of old magic, alive once more. The child stood atop the battlements, silver cloak streaming in the icy wind, eyes scanning the horizon for enemies both human and supernatural.
Job approached silently, his steps muted on the frozen stone. Ghost padded beside him, ears twitching at sounds unseen.
"They come," Job said, voice low.
"Not with armies, not with fire, but with whispers, shadows, and fear. The North is tested one last time."
The child turned to him, her silver eyes unwavering. "We have survived everything else. We endure because we choose to endure. But the choice before me it is not for Winterfell alone."
The Burden of Power
In the hall of the Weirwood, Maeve knelt beside the child, hands glowing faintly with ancient light.
"You carry not just the North," Maeve said,
"but the culmination of every prophecy tied to Althea. Your choices now will determine not only who survives, but how history remembers them."
The child clenched her fists. "I am ready to bear it. But what of Althea? She has fought, bled, and given herself to this story. Does she remain, or does she leave?"
Maeve's voice was gentle but heavy. "Every story has its end. Althea's path will diverge from this one. She must return to the world beyond, leaving the North to those who will inherit her lessons."
Job's face tightened. "And if she leaves? Will the North stand without her?"
The child's silver eyes softened. "It must. She has prepared us for this moment. We are no longer mere pawns we are keepers, warriors, and guardians."
The Final Council
The lords of the North gathered in the Great Hall, frost clinging to every surface. Their breaths misted, their eyes wary but determined. The child stepped forward, flanked by Job and Maeve.
"The North survives not by fear, not by war alone," she said.
"It survives because we are bound together. We will face enemies within and without, and yet we will endure. But this is not Althea's battle anymore it is ours."
Murmurs spread through the hall. Some nodded, others clenched hands in silent agreement. The child's silver magic pulsed faintly, tracing sigils across the floor that promised protection, clarity, and unity.
"She returns to her world," Maeve whispered to Job.
"But she leaves a legacy strong enough to carry the North through its last trial."
Job placed a hand on the child's shoulder, a silent affirmation of the bond they all shared.
Althea's Farewell
Althea stood at the edge of the godswood, frost crunching under her boots. The Silver Tree towered above her, red leaves glowing faintly in the moonlight. She placed her hand upon its bark, whispering a vow to the North, to Job, and to the child who would carry on.
"I have lived this story, borne its curses, its triumphs, its love and its loss," she said.
"Now, my path diverges. The North, Winterfell, and all who dwell here will endure because I have left strength behind. And now I must return to the world that awaits me beyond these pages."
Job approached quietly, taking her hand. "You've saved more than the North," he said.
"You've saved us and yourself. Wherever you go, that strength will follow."
Althea smiled faintly, a mixture of sorrow and release. "And where I go perhaps the world will be brighter for it."
With that, she stepped into the pale silver light of the godswood. The air shimmered, and with a final pulse of magic, Althea vanished from Winterfell, leaving only the echoes of her presence in the frost and the Silver Tree's whispers.
The North Remains
The child, Job, Maeve, and the remaining lords felt the silence settle over the godswood. Althea was gone, but her lessons, her love, and her legacy remained. The North stood unbroken, its people resilient, its magic alive, and its leaders ready.
Job placed a hand on the child's shoulder. "She trusted you. Now it is our duty to honor that trust."
The child nodded, silver eyes gleaming. "We endure. For the North. For Althea. And for the world she returned to."
Outside, the first light of a new dawn broke across the frozen horizon. Snow and frost shimmered like diamonds, and a quiet hope settled over Winterfell. Though Althea had left the story, her spirit lingered in every stone, every heart, and every breath of the North.
