Chapter 3 - Chapter 02: Robbing Nami

Time flew by; in a blink, three days passed.

Three days earlier, the Hammer Pirates had robbed that merchant ship, a fat haul. They celebrated for three days and nights. Everyone was in high spirits, so for three days no one bothered Lister. In those three days he grew familiar with the Swift‑Swift Fruit's power. He no longer lost control and crashed into walls from moving too fast. He felt sure that once he ran, no one in the Hammer Pirates could catch him. In three days he was reborn.

Lister stood atop the ship, gazing at the bright white moon. He took a hard swig of liquor.

"Time to move."

The instant the words fell, Lister vanished from where he stood. Slipping along the shadows, he quietly reached the Hammer Pirates' money warehouse.

Half the crew's wealth was kept in the captain's quarters and belonged to him. Lister decided that would be his first blood.

Wait—besides him, someone else had their eye on the warehouse stash.

Having spent ten days among the Hammer Pirates, he knew very well how much the crew feared Blood Hammer Henry. Even the madman Andrei didn't dare defy Henry's orders, much less steal from him. Bold indeed.

Lister slipped into the warehouse. Soon he spotted an orange‑haired girl busily packing up Beli and gold. He paused.

He had once been a fan of pirates. The moment he saw that figure, there was no way he wouldn't recognize her.

"Interesting. Three days ago the Hammer Pirates looted that merchant ship, not only scoring big, but pushing Blood Hammer Henry's bounty from five million to seven million, making noise all over the East Blue. Cat Burglar Nami must have smelled blood and snuck in to steal from them."

Lister crept closer to Nami and, with a wicked smile from behind, said, "Blood Hammer Henry keeps half his wealth in his quarters. Not going to steal that too?"

"Half?" Nami's eyes lit for a beat, then sharpened. "Who?"

As she looked him over, her confidence rose. "You're the same as me, aren't you—here to steal the money."

"Quick on the uptake. But no—this money is mine, because I've set my sights on it," Lister said with a faint smile.

They had occupied that island, and her adoptive mother was killed for resisting.

"That's right. I want it, so it's mine. Any objections?" Lister nodded.

He drew a katana he'd picked up from the merchant ship three days ago, a blade others hadn't wanted. Cold light splashed across Nami's face.

"We're both here to steal. No need to cross blades. And I'm not some frail girl. If we fight in here, it'll cause a racket. When the Hammer Pirates come to check, neither of us gets out," Nami said after a pause. She bit her lip and added, "Fine, I'll split it fifty‑fifty."

"No. I want it all," Lister said.

"In that case, we're done talking," Nami snapped, face hardening as she drew the staff she carried.

Lister slid the katana back into its sheath. "Alright, half and half. The Beli are mine, the gold is yours."

"That's not how you split it. The Beli here are obviously more than the gold. If we split like that, I take the loss," Nami said, secretly relieved to see him sheath the blade, yet refusing his terms. When it came to profit, Nami yielded not an inch.

"Sorry. I don't take losses. I take everything."

The moment the words fell, Lister vanished from before her eyes. An instant later he was behind her. His hand chopped down, hard, at the back of Nami's neck.

"Sleep here for a while. When you wake up, everything will be different," Lister said, glancing at her.

"Golden Finger, charge me up."

His left index finger turned gold. A panel surfaced before his eyes.

Account Holder: Lister!

Physique: 0.4 — average pirate equals 1

Spirit: 1.2 — average pirate equals 1

As someone who had transmigrated into another body, he didn't know why he could understand this world's language and writing.

"Zero point seven, huh. Looks like the Golden Finger just absorbed seven million Beli," Lister thought.

Point allocation complete.

Account Holder: Lister

Physique: 1.1

Midas Index: 0

A physique of 1.1 was still ordinary in the pirate world, something any normal man could possess, yet he could feel he had grown much stronger.

"Time to pay Henry a visit."
