Chapter 15 - We're Going To France?!

Dumbledore first took Ren to Madam Malkin's Robes for all occasion. The old headmaster had thought that Ren being a monk, wouldn't fuss too much about clothes of all things. But, he was wrong. Dead wrong.

Every piece of what seemed like standard wizarding clothing was dismissed by the young monk as "too gaudy", or "too flashy". Madam Malkin, fed up, gave the boy a quill and pieces of parchment, and asked him to draw what he wanted. With the help of magic, the clothes were ready in a few minutes after Ren finished his designs. And Ren changed out of his loose monk robes into a simple off-white robe that resembled a karate gi, with a sash instead of belt. The outer garment was a heavy brown fur coat that was left open at the front. It was bought at the behest of Dumbledore, who was worried about Ren's health in England's cold.

Then came Flourish And Blotts, the bookstore. This was where Ren spent the most galleons. Any title that interested him… "I'll have that one!"… a book recommended by Dumbledore?… "I'll have that one as well!"

Somewhere in the middle, noticing the ever-growing pile of books selected by Ren, Dumbledore withdrew from the shop, muttering something about, "An enchanted trunk."

About seventy something books fit into the trunk that Dumbledore bought for Ren, and despite that, it weighed almost nothing.

"Thank you, Professor. I really don't know what I could have done without this."

Dumbledore merely smiled in response to the monk's gratitude, and hurried him along to the next shop.

The tools and potion ingredients were bought quickly. Ren wasn't even mildly tempted by the solid gold cauldrons, self-stirring ladles, universe models, and broomsticks, as had no interest in tinkering around with things he didn't understand.

Soon, they were done with all the shopping, and only one thing remained… the wand.

But Ollivander's was closed.

Ren, "…"

He had been almost visibly excited about his wand, but now he deflated like a balloon. Dumbledore seemed to notice this, and he said, "Don't worry. Garrick is probably holed up in his basement, making wands to stock up for the school-starting period. He'll open the shop by the time you're back from France."

"We're going to France?!"

---

A few hours later, as the sun was setting over the French countryside, Ren and Dumbledore walked down a paved path through a massive lawn, which had many beautiful marble statues in it. The path led to a large, pristine white mansion. They walked up to the door and Dumbledore knocked sharply.

On a plaque beside the door, written in elegant cursive, was 'Manoir Delacour' which was French for 'Delacour Manor.'

Author's Comment: Guys, I understand that the excitement that Ren is showing is not in line with the fact that he has Eternal Zen, and the perfect emotional control that comes with it. But the emotional control part is more for negative emotions, like anger. I am keeping this mechanic bcs I do not want Ren to be one of those robotic, unfeeling, unreactive MC's. He will slowly become more accustomed to surprises, but right now, he is like most of us. A boy excited to go to Hogwarts.

Also, hope you liked the twist!!! Enjoy!!!
