Chapter 34: It Tastes Quite Good

Eriri had been leaning against the chair without moving, just breathing heavily, like an incredibly thirsty fish. After a few minutes, she seemed to recover a bit and opened her eyes.

Ryusei Kiryu noticed her eyes had become bright and spirited, not dull at all. They were very similar to his own eyes after he finished his Eye Protection Exercise.

"Ryusei-kun!" Eriri said with some surprise. "I seem to see more clearly!"

"Is that so? Besides that?" Ryusei asked. He hadn't tried doing the [Eye Protection Exercise] continuously on himself yet.

"My eyes feel so hot, but also so comfortable."

"Hotter than last time?"

"Mm! It's like your fingers keep transmitting heat to my eyes, and then it just keeps accumulating…"

"I understand." Ryusei nodded.

According to Eriri, the [Bright Eyes] state seemed to be stackable. And judging by Eriri's physical reaction just now, this feeling of ocular pleasure also seemed to keep stacking… It seemed somewhat useful, but also somewhat useless.

Ten minutes passed. Eriri's eyes had not returned to their nearsighted state. Presumably, the heat in her eyes hadn't run out yet. Another twenty minutes passed. Only then did Eriri's eyes change back again.

Ryusei was basically certain that the duration of the [Bright Eyes] state was indeed stackable. For example, if he continuously massaged himself for a day, then he should be able to maintain the [Bright Eyes] state all day the next day. However, the prerequisite was that his eyes could accommodate that much "heat" and that intensity.

Eriri eagerly called out, "Ryusei-kun, let's do it again!"

"I know." Ryusei got up to wash his hands clean and once again stood behind Eriri… Around four o'clock.

Eriri went to another hospital. The result was that the myopia in both her eyes had actually decreased by 10 degrees. Ryusei was not surprised by this result. Eriri was overjoyed; this meant that this set of Eye Protection Exercises indeed had a therapeutic effect on her nearsightedness.

"Ryusei-kun, how many times did we do it this afternoon?"

"Ten times."

Which meant, doing it once could reduce myopia by one degree.

"What a pity, you have other plans this afternoon, otherwise we could have done it a few more times."

A small nurse passing by overheard this conversation and couldn't help but widen her eyes. How many? Ten times!? Are young couples nowadays that amazing?

Ryusei rubbed his arm and said, "Eriri-senpai, you should spare me." He looked at Eriri, who was still immersed in joy, and continued, "I only promised to accompany you today. After this, I won't help you with the Eye Protection Exercise like I did today."

"Huh!!"

Only then did Eriri remember that she and Ryusei Kiryu didn't have any special relationship. They were just a Senpai and a Kohai from the same school, at most adding in an online acquaintance. Today, it was just a coincidence that Ryusei invited her out to Akihabara together. If Ryusei hadn't been curious about her contact lenses on the subway, she would have definitely missed out.

To think she had even suspected him of having ulterior motives at the time, she really had misjudged him too much.

Eriri quickly said, "I—I can pay you! Ryusei-kun, I won't let you work for free!"

Ryusei shook his head: "It's not just about money. Senpai, you can calculate it yourself; your eyes are over 800 degrees, so you'd need to do it over 800 times, and each time takes me 10 minutes…"

Eriri was silent for a moment, then quietly asked, "Then, Ryusei-kun, can you teach me? I'll do it myself."

Ryusei glanced at her. This technique wasn't easy to learn. Others simply couldn't grasp the essence of the rubbing and pressing movements; even if they copied it, it wouldn't produce that effect. He himself had learned it directly through a skill book. If one relied purely on observation, they most likely wouldn't learn it.

However, Eriri had the confidence of an honor student; she definitely wouldn't be content without trying. Ryusei nodded and said, "I can teach you, but whether you can learn it depends on yourself."

Eriri immediately said, "Of course!"

"And…"

"Hmm?"

"The price will increase."

"How much more money?"

Eriri looked at him blankly, grabbing the corner of Ryusei's clothes with her hand. She looked a little pitiful.

Ryusei shook his head and said, "I still need to think about it, including how to teach you. I'll tell you after I've thought it through these next two days. You go to the restroom and put on your contact lenses first."

"Oh, okay."

Ryusei escorted Eriri to the restroom door. A few minutes later, Eriri walked out, resuming her proud, head-held-high posture from school.

"Well then, that's all for today, Eriri-senpai. I still have some matters to attend to."

"Mm-hmm."

Ryusei looked at Eriri, then suddenly lowered his head and leaned close to her again. That familiar sense of pressure from the subway once again assailed Eriri's heart. But this time, she didn't feel that panic; instead, she even blinked at Ryusei, who was so close.

"Is there anything else, Ryusei-kun?"

She wasn't scared? Ryusei was slightly surprised. He whispered in her ear, "Regarding the Eye Protection Exercise, please keep it a secret for me, Senpai."

Upon hearing this, Eriri's expression became serious. She wasn't stupid; she naturally understood Ryusei's concerns, otherwise, they wouldn't have specifically switched to a different hospital for the second eye exam.

"Please rest assured, this is a secret between the two of us. I won't tell anyone."

"That's good." Ryusei smiled at Eriri. "I trust you."

Trust me?

Standing at the hospital entrance, Eriri watched Ryusei Kiryu get into a taxi and drive away, her expression looking a bit complex. "What the…?"

When the taxi turned the corner, Eriri retracted her gaze. "Mom's merchandise hasn't been bought yet. It's only four o'clock now, should I go to Akihabara again? But the merchandise was released at noon, so it should have been snatched up by now, right?"

While Eriri was deliberating, a Line message rang.

[Ryusei: Senpai, be careful when you're out alone. Try not to go to secluded places. Go home early.]

Honestly. I'm not a child. Eriri grumbled a few words and replied to the message.

[Eriri: Got it, you too.]

Forget it, I won't go shopping. It's not fun alone. Eriri raised her hand and hailed a taxi. I'd rather go back and draw.

[Miss Mira's Jewelry Store] arrived.

Ryusei Kiryu got out of the taxi and paid the fare. He walked into the store, looking at the various exquisite ornaments displayed in the showcases. His first impression was quite good.

A beautiful shop assistant came over and softly asked, "Welcome, customer! How may I help you?"

Ryusei said, "I ordered custom copper coins from your store. We already arranged it yesterday, and I've come to see the finished product today."

"I understand, please wait a moment." The shop assistant went to the computer behind the counter to check. Soon, she looked up and said, "Excuse me, are you Mr. Ryusei Kiryu himself?"

"Yes."

"Please follow me."

"Okay."

Led by the assistant, Ryusei arrived at the inner room of the shop. It was very quiet here. There was also a pleasant incense burning nearby. It was clearly a place specifically used to receive important clients.

The shop assistant asked him to sit down and went into a room further inside. After a while, an elegant blonde woman came out holding an exquisite small box and handed it to Ryusei.

"Customer, this is the item you ordered."

This voice sounded a bit familiar; it seemed to be the woman who answered the phone earlier. Ryusei glanced at her; her face was very delicate, and she appeared to be wearing light makeup. Diagonally below the left corner of her mouth, there was a very small beauty mark, like a finishing touch, adding a strange sense of charm to her.

Ryusei retracted his gaze, opened the small box, and saw a copper coin lying quietly inside. He reached out and picked it up, examining it carefully before his eyes.
