Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

The next day.

When Kurenai Yuhi arrived at the Hatake residence with breakfast, full of excitement, the smile on her face stiffened slightly.

"Asuma, what are you doing here?"

Kurenai looked resentfully at the two people sitting on the wooden floor of the house's corridor, eating breakfast.

"Ah, this…"

Faced with Kurenai's somewhat displeased words, Asuma was at a loss.

"Asuma found out I was broke and offered to treat me to a meal."

"Isn't that right, Asuma?"

As Kakashi spoke, he dropped a dumpling into the dog bowl below the corridor.

A small Shar-Pei wearing a vest and a Konoha forehead protector emerged from under the corridor and swallowed the dumpling in one gulp.

"That's right, that's exactly it!"

Asuma nodded hastily upon hearing this.

Kurenai pouted, looking at the two who had clearly conspired beforehand.

Feeling the notification in his mind, Kakashi was quite satisfied. Even without any interest in doing anything to attract attention, he was naturally approaching the chakra reserves of three Kakashis.

Obito Uchiha had made a great contribution to this, and besides him, Might Guy and Kurenai Yuhi had also helped a lot.

However, there was still a long way to go to reach Naruto's hundred-Kakashi chakra level.

One had to remember that Naruto, that chakra-rich tycoon, still had four Kakashis worth of chakra even while being suppressed by Yamato's Wood Style.

Regarding this, Kakashi could only say that comparisons are odious.

But speaking of Naruto…

Kakashi chewed his food slowly, thinking of his teacher's orphaned son.

Should he find some time to go see him…

While Kakashi was lost in thought, Kurenai, filled with dissatisfaction, had already slipped off her shoes and squeezed between him and Asuma, mimicking their posture.

She angrily placed the takeout breakfast she had brought between them and said through somewhat gritted teeth:

"Eat it!"

Even Kakashi, who had no interest in romantic affairs, could tell from her tone that the beautiful girl was very unhappy right now.

Kakashi and Asuma exchanged a glance, both tacitly choosing not to speak.

He casually picked up a rice ball Kurenai had brought and began to eat it.

"Woof, if you can't finish it, you can give it to me."

Pakkun rested his two paws on the wooden floor, his eyes fixed on the unfinished dumplings on Kakashi's and Asuma's plates.

"Here, eat up."

Kakashi thoughtfully poured the remaining dumplings from his bowl into Pakkun's dog bowl.

Asuma followed his example.

Watching Pakkun gobble down the food, Kakashi felt a little regretful.

Compared to Kurenai's rice balls, he actually preferred the dumplings.

But if he fed the rice balls she brought to Pakkun right in front of her, Kakashi would probably lose this meal ticket.

"Does Kakashi have any plans for today?"

During the awkwardly silent breakfast, Kurenai couldn't hold back any longer and decided to start a conversation.

"I'm planning to find Shizune."

Her crimson eyes narrowed slightly, emitting a strange feeling.

"To ask about any precautions after the eye transplant."

That was a lie.

The main reason was to find Shizune and ask her to keep the matter of him replacing his eye with Rin's a secret.

Kakashi glanced at Kurenai and finished the rice ball in two or three bites.

"I see. And after that?"

Kurenai inexplicably felt a slight sense of relief.

"Asuma will be accompanying me for rehabilitation training."

Hearing Kakashi mention him, Asuma blinked in confusion.

"Is that so?"

Kurenai looked at Asuma.

"It is, that's right!"

Asuma swallowed the rice ball in his mouth and nodded quickly.

"I can also help Kakashi with his rehabilitation training…"

"...Never mind, it's better to let Asuma do it."

The girl pouted and spoke with a lack of confidence.

But halfway through her sentence, she herself lost the confidence to train with Kakashi.

Even if Kakashi hadn't fully recovered, she would be no match for him.

Moreover, she was a genjutsu-type ninja; taijutsu was her weakness.

Rehabilitation training was mainly about reactivating a body that had been inactive for many days.

Kakashi had always been efficient. After a simple breakfast, he arrived at the hospital and was lucky enough to run into Shizune, who was just about to start her shift.

After exchanging a few words, Kakashi got straight to the point.

Shizune didn't ask many questions about it, simply giving Kakashi an "OK" gesture.

"No problem at all."

Every ninja has their own intelligence, and Kakashi's Sharingan was a well-known fact.

That constantly active Sharingan had suddenly turned into a black eye.

If he encountered an enemy, their uncertainty about whether Kakashi had completely mastered the Sharingan or lost it would become a factor that could tip the balance of the battle.

So Shizune understood.

"You've been a great help."

"I'll treat you to a meal sometime to thank you."

Kakashi said with a light smile.

"Isn't Kakashi broke right now?"

"Don't tell me it's your treat, but I'm the one paying?"

Shizune teased Kakashi with a mischievous smile.

"Ah, this…"

"So Shizune knows too…"

Kakashi felt a little awkward.

"Hmph, of course. Kurenai was complaining to me about it last night~"

Looking at the embarrassed Kakashi, Shizune chuckled and patted his shoulder, continuing:

"I won't tease you anymore."

"Let's forget about the meal. After all, Kakashi's primary goal now is to adapt to fighting without the Sharingan as soon as possible."

"I have to get to work now."

"Kakashi, you should head back soon too."

"Bye-bye~"

Watching the girl disappear down the hospital corridor with a light-hearted pace, Kakashi smiled helplessly.

Really…

He didn't expect Kurenai to tell Shizune about the embarrassing fact that he'd become broke.

But it didn't matter.

The matter of the eye was settled.

The next step was to pick up his old swordsmanship as quickly as possible and continue to work hard in that area.

Asuma was already waiting for Kakashi at the hospital entrance.

Seeing Kakashi come out, he walked towards him with his hands in his pockets.

"So, shall we find a spot?"

Kakashi nodded slightly.

Although Asuma was not as strong as Might Guy, his skills were still outstanding among his peers.

He was more than adequate as a training partner for these three days of rehabilitation.

After three days, when he retrieved his sword, he should be more or less recovered.

At that time, he would have Guy as his opponent to re-familiarize himself with his former swordsmanship.

He just hoped Guy wouldn't get too fired up, screaming about youth, and open the Eight Inner Gates on him…

Otherwise, his current body really wouldn't be able to take it.

As for Naruto…

He would find a chance to see him later.
