Chapter 148: Night of Blood — Flashback
With a swift, merciless motion, she drove the blade into her own skull. Blood erupted, dripping from her lips and staining her hands. She gasped once, her voice cracking:
"It's… the end… Please… survive, children…"
Her body collapsed onto the floor, lifeless, eyes wide in final horror. Flames danced across the room, smoke curling toward the ceiling as the house burned, the night consumed by the Night of Blood.
{Flashback}
Kuromi's eyes rolled back, pupils fading to white, as if her mind clung to memories in her final breath. She was transported to a serene scene — a massive stone sat before her, and Kaoru Hibuko was seated beside her, clad in a black jacket wrapping his frame. The sunlight bathed the green fields in brilliance, the ocean stretching endlessly before them, humming softly. Birds sang their gentle songs, weaving through the calm air.
Kaoru held Kuromi in his arms, the warmth of his embrace tangible, as if the moment were alive. They stared together at the endless, calm ocean, its rhythmic waves matching the beat of their hearts.
Kaoru tilted his head slightly, his voice soft. "What's wrong, Kuromi?"
Kuromi looked up at him, tears threatening to spill. His smile — warm, gentle, and familiar — tried to soothe her.
"Nothing," she said. Her voice tremble
breaking softly.
"No… what happened, Kuromi? Why are you crying? Kaoru asked
She clung to him tightly, tears streaming freely down her face. Kaoru's hands rested gently on her back, steadying her.
He chuckled softly, a mix of warmth and mischief.
"Are you a crybabyyy?
Kuromi's voice broke, her words fierce yet tender. "Shut up, idiot."
The sunlight shimmered over them, casting golden hues across their forms. The ocean hummed, the birds sang, and for a fleeting, fragile moment, the world was theirs alone — untouched by blood, fire, or betrayal.
