"Commission: The Passerby Heroine Won't Lose
Content: A light novelist destined for greatness, a doujin artist, and a Grand Assassin have arrived at the starting point of a new life. They are troubled by the shadows of their past, unable to step onto the path toward the future. My excellent employee, go and help them solve these problems. (Remember to get me a hand-signed work from the doujin artist. Just leave it on the desk in the Countermeasures Club. The content in these parentheses will be automatically erased after you see it.)
Deadline: One year
Progress: 0/3 (The system has been upgraded; I've added a progress bar for you.)
Reward: Random
Penalty: You will never be able to look at lewd pictures again."
A Problem Child Countermeasures Club has also been established inside Mihama Academy, so you can conveniently go back and forth between the two schools.
Lewdness is humanity's primary productive force. Boss, you can't abuse your power and strip me of my rights at the same time!
To protect his 1TB collection of lewd pictures, gathered and organized from various artists on his phone, Jhin told himself he had to take this seriously and give it his all to resolve this commission.
"Please introduce yourselves."
"My name is Kasumigaoka Utaha, 17 years old. My hobby is sleeping." After her simple introduction, Kasumigaoka Utaha glanced at Eriri beside her.
She never imagined that she would transfer to the same school as her.
Eriri took that glance as a provocation and was about to bristle, but she immediately realized that she had just arrived at a new school and couldn't reveal her true nature in front of others. Forcibly suppressing her temper, she said in a deep voice, "My name is Sawamura Spencer Eriri, 16 years old."
Ah, it's the boy who helped me pick up my hat that day. So he's at this school too?
Kato Megumi saw Jhin sitting by the window and introduced herself in a flat tone: "Kato Megumi, 16 years old."
"Our three new students have transferred to our school for various reasons. Everyone, please get along with them. I'll leave this class period for you all to get acquainted." With that, Tachibana Chizuru left the classroom. Having returned from her summer vacation trip, a huge pile of troublesome paperwork was waiting for her in the office.
Jhin stood up and greeted Eriri, "Miss Eriri, what a coincidence. We meet again."
Kasumigaoka Utaha raised her delicate eyebrows. She, of course, recognized Jhin as the one who had critiqued her novel at the bookstore, but she hadn't expected him to know Eriri as well.
"Hello, Jhin-sa—"
"You can just call me Jhin or Jhin-san. My name is a bit of a mouthful to say according to your customs, isn't it?"
"Mm, Jhin-san."
"Kato-san, I didn't expect us to meet again either." Jhin then greeted Kato Megumi.
"You remember me?" Kato Megumi thought her faint presence would have long since made her disappear from Jhin's memory. After all, they had only met once.
Jhin chuckled. "Of course I remember. I don't suffer from amnesia. Besides, Kato-san is very pretty too."
"I'm just an ordinary girl." Kato Megumi didn't think her looks were anything special. Otherwise, how could her presence be so faint?
In contrast, the two beside her, the two great beauties of the former Toyogasaki Academy, were the ones with outstanding looks.
It was said that the two of them transferred after their hobbies were exposed. As for what kind of hobbies required them to transfer schools to hide, she wasn't sure. The school also strictly forbade any discussion of the topic.
Jhin's gaze shifted to the quiet and refined Kasumigaoka Utaha. Everyone else was eagerly waiting to see if Jhin also knew this transfer student. After all, he already knew two of the three.
"Nice to meet you for the first time," Jhin successfully crushed their expectations, "Kasumigaoka-san."
"Jhin-san, although this is the first time you've met me, it's not the first time I've seen you."
Although Kasumigaoka Utaha just wanted to write her novels quietly at the new school, seeing that Eriri knew this boy, she habitually started to compete with her.
"What you said in the bookstore that day left a deep impression on me."
Jhin hadn't expected his critique and analysis of the novel to be heard by the author herself. Fortunately, she didn't reveal her identity, so it wasn't too awkward.
"Those were just my personal opinions. Could it be that Kasumigaoka-san is a fan of that novel?"
"Not really, I've just read it," Kasumigaoka Utaha was actually grateful to Jhin. His words had enlightened her, and her editor, who had been waiting anxiously for the manuscript, finally received the final volume of the novel.
"Your evaluation was very pertinent."
"Thank you for the compliment. Allow me to introduce you three," Jhin stepped aside.
"This is Komine Sachi, our class president. If you have any difficulties, she can help you solve the vast majority of your problems. I prefer to call her Sachi-A-mon."
"A pleasure to meet you three. I am Sachi-A-mon." Komine Sachi bowed slightly. Even without her maid uniform, her every move made it seem as if her school uniform was, in fact, a maid outfit.
"This is..."
Jhin went through a round of introductions, and everyone was more or less acquainted. However, when he introduced Michiru Matsushima, Eriri's expression became a bit uncomfortable, and Kasumigaoka Utaha shot her a pitying glance.
We're both blonde twin-tails, so why is she so much bigger there!?
What Eriri didn't know yet was that Michiru Matsushima wasn't actually a pure-blooded tsundere blonde twin-tail; her hair color was dyed.
Suou Amane asked curiously, "Kato-san, you don't have to answer if it's inconvenient, but what school were you at before?"
"It was Toyogasaki Academy." Kato Megumi had no reason to hide this and answered frankly.
She went to the same school as us?
Eriri and Kasumigaoka Utaha couldn't help but marvel at how strange fate was. Three transfer students all from the same school... this was a scenario that only happens in novels.
Kasumigaoka Utaha walked over, her well-rounded thighs wrapped in black pantyhose, sat down in a chair, and crossed her legs. The compressed black silk reflected a soul-stirring light.
As expected of Fatty Kasumi. Those legs, those black stockings, tsk tsk tsk.
Jhin silently opened the camera mode on his personal terminal, took a picture of Kasumigaoka Utaha, and saved it under the name "Black-Stockinged Senpai."
"So, Eriri, how do you know Jhin-san?"
"Oh? Does Kasumigaoka-san know Sawamura-san?"
Ending up at the same school even after transferring—if this wasn't an ill-fated connection, what was?
Eriri shot Kasumigaoka Utaha a subtle glare, then said, "I met him when he was on a date with his girlfriend. I accidentally bumped into..."
Eriri gave a rough summary of that day's events, omitting the part about her questions for Jhin.
"Jhin-san and his girlfriend seem to be on really good terms. The day I met him, he was on a date too."
"Me too... It seems Jhin-san spent most of his summer vacation dating his girlfriend."
Kato Megumi only remembered that the girl that day seemed to have long pink hair. Did she cut it short because it was too hot?
She looked towards Komine Sachi and received a polite smile in return.
"Ahahaha," Jhin endured the meaningful gazes of the girls who knew the real situation and forced a smile. "But of course. I really like my girlfriend, you know."
He deliberately emphasized the word "girlfriend" to remind them not to expose him.
If they found out he had a harem and their affection levels dropped to zero, then solving their problems within the commission's time limit would be nigh impossible.
His collection of lewd pictures was on the line; Jhin couldn't afford a single misstep.
Jhin: "Nymph, look up the reasons why Sawamura Spencer Eriri, Kasumigaoka Utaha, and Kato Megumi transferred. It should be related to their previous school."
Nymph: "Yes, Master."
Nymph: "The data has been sent to your personal terminal."
Jhin excused himself to use the restroom, opened his personal terminal, and carefully reviewed the information the little angel had collected for him. There wasn't much information, so he finished reading it quickly and understood their reasons for transferring.
Eriri and Kasumigaoka Utaha were forced to transfer because their identities as a doujin artist and a light novel author were exposed. Kato Megumi's reason was rather unique: her parents hoped to increase her presence, so they chose the less-populated Mihama Academy.
Kato Megumi's problem was actually easy to solve. If she just let her short hair grow long, Jhin guaranteed she'd become a stunning beauty.
As for Eriri and Kasumigaoka Utaha, Jhin hadn't thought of a solution yet. Both of them intentionally hid their other identities, so he couldn't just rashly expose them.
However, a certain name unrelated to his commission caught Jhin's attention. Aki Tomoya...
Jhin's eyes narrowed. He had a feeling that this person, who was good at pestering others, would find his way here sooner or later. He wouldn't give Aki Tomoya a single chance.
Jhin's premonition was more accurate than he imagined, or rather, it came sooner.
Because Mihama Academy was basically a full-boarding school, only a special student like Jhin would occasionally stay in the school dorms.
The others almost never went home except for long holidays. After all, it was the 21st century, and you could see and chat with family via video calls.
Just as Jhin stepped one foot out of the school gate, a black-haired boy with glasses standing not far away called out to him.
"Excuse me, did any transfer students come to your school today?" Aki Tomoya asked nervously.
After the trouble he had caused, he had hesitated for a long time before finally mustering the courage to pester Eriri's mother for ages, finally getting the name of her new school.
"Oh? And your name is?"
"My name is Aki Tomoya. Um, could you answer my previous question?"
"Of course," Jhin's lips curled into a benevolent smile. "Yes, we had a transfer student."
Aki Tomoya's eyes instantly filled with hope, his lips trembling slightly. "Is—is her name Sawamura Spencer Eriri?"
"Her surname is Kato." Jhin ruthlessly crushed his hope.
How could this be? Did Mrs. Sawamura not want me to see Eriri, so she gave me the wrong school name?
Aki Tomoya was sweating profusely with anxiety. Jhin, as if just remembering something, patted his shoulder and said, "Oh, I think there was one with the surname Sawamura."
"Is she a blonde with twin-tails, not very tall, and has a bad temper?" Aki Tomoya hurriedly described his image of Eriri.
He was completely unaware that the person he was looking for was hiding behind the school gate wall with Kasumigaoka Utaha, quietly listening to his conversation with Jhin.
Eriri and Kasumigaoka Utaha were originally planning to go out after school to buy some daily necessities. They were, after all, prepared for a long-term stay.
After the turmoil at their previous school, perhaps because they were fellows in misfortune, the tense atmosphere that used to arise whenever they met had eased considerably.
Who would have thought that before they even reached the main gate, they would hear a familiar voice.
"Did any transfer students come to your school?"
"Is her name Sawamura Spencer Eriri?"
Kasumigaoka Utaha grabbed Eriri, who was about to step out and berate Aki Tomoya, and pressed an index finger to her red lips in a hushing gesture.
"Kasumigaoka Utaha!" Eriri glared at her with her blue eyes and questioned in a low voice, "Why won't you let me go out and curse that bastard? Don't you forget, the both of us had to transfer because of his loose lips!"
"Of course I haven't forgotten. Let's see what he wants first." Although their strengths were about the same, Kasumigaoka Utaha used her superior physique to forcibly hold Eriri in place.
"Is she a blonde with twin-tails, not very tall, and has a bad temper?" Aki Tomoya's words reached Eriri's ears. Kasumigaoka Utaha was already prepared to suppress this rampaging Unit-01, but her opponent suddenly seemed to lose power, not moving at all.
"Aki-san, although I've only met Sawamura-san twice and don't know her personality, to speak ill of someone behind their back like this, especially a girl..."
"She just arrived at a new school today, a new environment, and you're going to smear her reputation like this in front of her new classmate?"
Jhin's words were like a sharp sword piercing straight into Aki Tomoya's heart. His face turned pale as he stammered for a long time.
"I... I didn't mean it like that... I-I came to apologize to her."
After saying that, Aki Tomoya handed a letter to Jhin. "Please help me give this letter to her..."
Rip. Before Aki Tomoya's incredulous eyes, Jhin turned his hand and tore the white apology letter to shreds, mocking him with considerable displeasure.
"I used my own channels to find out their reasons for transferring. Although I don't know the exact details, you really did a number on them, didn't you, Aki-san."
"You throw their lives into chaos, and when they've come to a new environment, you chase after them relentlessly. Are you some kind of lingering, soul-reaping ghost?"
"Them?" Aki Tomoya was frozen stiff, not yet recovered from the shock of his apology letter being torn up.
"Yes, them. Kasumigaoka-san is here too. Don't tell me you've already forgotten how many victims there were in the disaster you personally created."
Jhin approached Aki Tomoya with an aggressive aura. "You didn't mean what? You came here to apologize but only remembered one person? If I recall correctly, they had an entire summer vacation before transferring, which was plenty of time for you to apologize, wasn't it?"
Aki Tomoya felt a crushing weight on his chest that made it hard to breathe. He grew increasingly nervous, his mind went blank, and he couldn't even string together a complete sentence.
"I will apologize to Sawamura-san for tearing up your apology letter on my own initiative, but I won't tell her that you came."
Aki Tomoya finally managed to squeeze a sound out of his throat: "Why!"
"Why?" Jhin sneered, his eyes filled with disdain. "You turned someone's normal life into a complete mess. Do you still have the right to relentlessly pester them for forgiveness?
"They've already chosen to start a new life, and you want to force them to recall the pain of the past, is that it?"
"Please go back the way you came, before I get the urge to punch you. If you don't believe me, you can go to Shuka High School and ask around for my name—Jhin. I'm sure the students there will give you a satisfactory answer."
Jhin watched as Aki Tomoya limped away in a daze.
"What's with that? It's not like I fed you anything made from potato flowers. Are you limping to try and frame me for insurance fraud or something?"
Thinking about the three transfer students, Jhin had an epiphany.
So, it turns out I have the makings of an Electro Paimon myself.
A spark of electricity flashed in his hand, burning the paper shreds to ash. Jhin tossed the ashes into a trash can, clapped his hands, and called out to those inside the school gate, "You two, he's gone."
"Clap, clap, clap..." Kasumigaoka Utaha revealed herself from behind the wall, clapping. "Jhin-san's eloquence and perspective have given me a new impression of him. I mean that in a good way."
Eriri was still standing dazedly inside the school, looking out. Seeing her like this, Kasumigaoka Utaha's fine eyebrows raised slightly. She felt that Eriri was the one who couldn't let go.
"Hey, Sawamura-san, time to snap out of it."
"Yeah."
Jhin wore an apologetic expression. "Miss Eriri, I'm sorry for tearing up that letter on my own."
Eriri blinked, not a trace of lingering attachment left in her eyes, as if a great weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She felt a sense of lightness. "It's okay. You were right. I should have my own new life too."
"I agree with what Jhin said." Kato Megumi, who had appeared out of nowhere, startled everyone.
"Wah! Kato-san, when did you get here?"
"But weren't you the two who invited me to come out shopping?" Kato Megumi's voice held a hint of disappointment. It seemed her presence hadn't improved much even after transferring.
If Kato Megumi hadn't spoken up, Jhin wouldn't have noticed her presence either.
As expected of EX-rank Presence Concealment. Young lady, you truly have a promising future. Come be an Assassin with me.
Kasumigaoka Utaha's wine-red eyes looked at Jhin. "I wonder if the ever-so-gentlemanly Jhin-san would be willing to spend some time accompanying three helpless maidens to buy a few things? It would be troublesome if that man from before were to make a comeback."
"The honor would be all mine." Jhin gave an elegant bow with his right hand over his chest in a gentlemanly gesture.
"Is it really okay?" Kasumigaoka Utaha intentionally teased this boy who seemed so composed and proper in all his dealings. She really wanted to see a flustered expression on his face. "Won't your girlfriend get jealous?"
"I'm the only guy in the school. If she were the jealous type, she would have drowned in a vat of vinegar by now." Jhin wasn't flustered in the slightest. The girls wouldn't get jealous over something like this... ...probably.
Times like these were when he had to trust in Kazami Kazuki. He hoped his dear sister could help keep the harem stable.
