Chapter 39 - Joy

With his injuries alleviated, Luo Yan breathed a slight sigh of relief, knowing he definitely wouldn't die. He then pulled out all the potions from his inner pocket and laid them out in a line, but a single glance was enough to fill him with disappointment.

"None? None!"

There were five potions in total. After drinking one, four remained. However, two of these were healing potions, and two were potions to restore spirituality. None of them were what Luo Yan wanted.

He wanted a sedative, because he had just used that mirror, the one corresponding to the Ecstasy Enchantress.

That mirror had three effects: Mirror Doppelganger, Curse, and Ecstasy.

The Mirror Doppelganger and Curse effects were what Luo Yan had just used, while the Ecstasy effect was aimed at the user.

If one merely carried the mirror, it would only make the carrier's imagination run wild, simply put, turning him into a pervert. This wasn't very serious. But once the mirror's Doppelganger or Curse ability was actively used, the mirror would inflict "Ecstasy" upon the user.

This Ecstasy was not something that could be endured; it was far more terrifying than a powerful aphrodisiac. Luo Yan had experienced it once when testing its effects and was weak for two whole days afterward. Since then, he had never dared to touch the mirror again.

This time, he used it for two reasons: firstly, he truly had no other option, as he was facing a Sea Kings equivalent to half a Sequence 4; secondly, he had a pharmacist who could make sedatives. After all, the sedative's effect had already been tested on Mite and was absolutely effective. Yet, Xia Tali hadn't brought him any sedatives.

"Captain!"

Xia Tali saw the battle was over and rushed to check on him. However, Luo Yan's body trembled when he heard Xia Tali's voice, and he thought, 'This isn't good.'

"Captain, are you alright?"

Xia Tali saw Luo Yan slumped on the ground, still bearing scorched marks. She approached him worriedly.

Xia Tali was already quite beautiful, a pretty girl. After becoming a Sequence 7, she became an even more beautiful Vampire with red eyes and white hair. Her beauty had increased even further. Luo Yan, affected by "Ecstasy," instantly froze, his breathing unconsciously growing heavier.

"Don't come closer!"

Seeing Xia Tali still approaching, Luo Yan quickly stopped her loudly. Xia Tali didn't know what was happening but immediately halted her steps.

"Captain, you… your condition is very off."

Through Spirit Vision, Xia Tali could clearly see that Luo Yan's current state was abnormal. Luo Yan tried hard to avert his gaze, looking at the ground.

"I need a sedative. Give me a sedative."

"Ah? But I didn't bring any. I'll have to go back to the ship to mix it for you."

"Then go back to the ship now. Mix the potion and then come find me."

Xia Tali opened her mouth, wanting to say something else, but seeing Luo Yan in this state, she closed it again.

She retreated a few steps to create distance from Luo Yan, then turned her head to look at Potter, who was standing on her shoulder.

"Go, you go find the ship. Fly south. At your speed, you should be able to find it within an hour. Then have Mite and the others bring the ship over."

"But, the Captain asked you to find the ship."

Although Potter wasn't entirely against this arrangement, it still voiced its doubts. Xia Tali's expression immediately darkened.

"Are you stupid? The Captain is already confused right now; can he make clear judgments? If I go find the ship, what if another Sea Kings appears? Even if you stay here to guard him, with your small body, can you carry the Captain and fly away? If I stay here, at least I can carry the Captain and fly away in times of danger."

Although scolded, Potter wasn't angry, because Mite often scolded it, and it was used to it. It nodded suddenly, thinking Xia Tali made a lot of sense.

"Hmm~ It seems that's the case. I'll go now, you be careful too."

After speaking, Potter flapped its wings and flew south.

Because of Luo Yan's earlier words, Xia Tali didn't dare to approach to help treat his injuries, but she also couldn't just sit idly. So, she decided to clean up the battlefield first, so that when Mite brought the ship over, they could immediately take Luo Yan aboard and leave, without wasting any more time.

Although the battlefield was messy, Xia Tali, relying on her Sequence 7 intuition, easily found the briefcase Luo Yan had hidden in a rock crevice. Then, following her intuition, she found the mirror, which was somewhat blackened from being struck by lightning.

She bent down and picked up the mirror. The moment her fingers touched the mirror, a series of images involuntarily appeared in her mind.

As a pharmacist, Xia Tali clearly understood Luo Yan's current state and why he told her not to approach. She had been saved by Luo Yan, and he later gave her the potion, granting her a new life. Feelings for Luo Yan had long since bloomed in her heart, though she herself hadn't noticed them until now.

However, under the mirror's influence, all that appeared in her mind were a series of inappropriate images concerning her and Luo Yan.

"What am I thinking? No, this is taking advantage of him. No! Why am I having these fantasies?"

Xia Tali vigorously shook her head, trying to shake off those chaotic images from her mind, but no matter how hard she tried, it was useless. The images were fixed in her mind as if carved with a knife and chisel, and they grew more and more numerous.

"No, something's wrong, it's this thing!"

Xia Tali finally realized the core of the problem and quickly threw the mirror away. Sure enough, as soon as the mirror left her hand, the images disappeared.

"It really is this thing."

Xia Tali composed herself, first opened the briefcase, and then quickly placed the mirror inside to prevent herself from being affected again.

After doing this, Xia Tali began collecting useful items on the island. Although the island itself was quite desolate and had just been ravaged by battle, there were still some materials containing spirituality.

Throughout this process, Xia Tali maintained a distance of over a hundred meters from Luo Yan, so as not to provoke him.

More than an hour passed, and Luo Yan's ship slowly approached the shore. Potter, clutching a vial of potion in its claws, flew directly towards Luo Yan.

"Captain! I've brought the potion you wanted."

As soon as it got close, Potter eagerly called out. Luo Yan, who had been leaning against a rock, eyes closed in rest, opened them and immediately saw Potter flying towards him.

"Good, quickly give it to me."

"Here."

Potter didn't land, but merely lowered its flight height so that the potion hung at a height Luo Yan could reach. Luo Yan didn't hesitate at all, immediately reached out, took the potion in his hand, opened the lid, and tilted his head back, drinking it down in two gulps.

The turmoil within his body gradually subsided, and the desire in Luo Yan's eyes slowly faded. Although the effects hadn't completely disappeared, he was now fully able to suppress them.

"Phew! Good. Clean up the battlefield; let's leave quickly."
