PART 7 — "Control Restored"
The house grew quiet again.
Only three remained now.
Akari stood still for a second.
Then turned slightly—
looking at Haruto and Ayame.
Neither of them spoke.
And just like that—
the day had begun.
But not quite normally.
The door had just closed behind Kaito.
Silence settled into the house.
Not the calm kind—
something quieter… heavier.
Akari stood near the table for a moment, watching them.
Haruto hadn't touched his food again.
Ayame sat still, gaze lowered slightly.
Akari wiped her hands slowly and walked over.
"…You two."
They looked up.
"…What's wrong?"
Her voice wasn't sharp.
It was calm—
but direct.
Ayame glanced at Haruto for a brief second.
He didn't say anything.
So she answered.
"…On the way back yesterday…"
A small pause.
"…We heard something."
Akari didn't interrupt.
"…Shinobies talking."
Another pause.
"…About a possible war."
The words stayed quiet.
But they carried weight.
Akari's expression didn't change much.
But her eyes sharpened slightly.
"…I see."
Silence.
Haruto looked away.
Ayame continued—
"…We don't know if it's true."
"…But…"
She didn't finish.
She didn't need to.
Akari understood.
She exhaled softly.
Then pulled a chair and sat in front of them.
"…Listen."
Both of them focused on her.
"…Rumors like that spread easily."
A pause.
"…Sometimes they're true."
Another pause.
"…Sometimes they're not."
Her tone stayed steady.
Grounded.
"…But worrying about it like this won't help you right now."
Haruto's fingers tightened slightly under the table.
"…Last time too…"
He muttered quietly.
Akari's gaze shifted to him.
He didn't continue.
Ayame glanced at him—
then back at Akari.
Akari leaned forward slightly.
"…Even if something is happening…"
A small pause.
"…You won't face it alone."
Her voice softened just a little.
"…You have us."
Another pause.
"…Renjiro."
"…Me."
Her eyes stayed on them.
"…And each other."
The room went quiet again.
But the heaviness had shifted.
Not gone—
but steadier.
Ayame nodded faintly.
"…Okay."
Haruto didn't respond immediately.
Then—
"…Yeah."
Quiet.
But there.
Akari stood up again.
"…Finish your food."
A small pause.
"…Then get ready."
She turned back toward the kitchen.
The conversation ended—
but something remained.
Not fear.
Not fully.
But awareness.
And the feeling that things were changing—
even if they couldn't see how yet.
