Chapter 46 - Chapter 43: Present Day

The Haven looked different now.

Bigger.

Cleaner.

Quieter.

But somehow…

still chaotic.

Shichiro walked through the halls, hands in his pockets.

"Rokuro?" he called out.

Silence.

"Rookurooo??"

Still nothing.

Shichiro sighed.

"Where is this gu-"

"Boo."

"AH!"

Shichiro nearly fell backwards before catching himself against the wall.

Rokuro stood behind him with the faintest smirk imaginable.

Shichiro pointed at him accusingly.

"Damn you, dude. You're getting sneakier and sneakier."

Rokuro shrugged casually.

"Yeah."

A pause.

"So… what'd you need me for?"

Before Shichiro could answer.

BANG!!

Something exploded north of the Haven.

Followed by loud screaming.

And laughing.

Mostly laughing.

"WOOOOHOOOOOO!!"

Kentarō's voice echoed through the entire area like a public safety hazard.

Shichiro slowly covered his face.

"…What is this dude up to now?"

Rokuro grabbed Shichiro's shoulder before he could walk away.

"Hey."

Shichiro looked back.

"You still didn't tell me what you needed."

Shichiro's expression softened slightly.

"…Do you remember what my brother said?"

Rokuro tilted his head.

"They won't ask nicely."

The air grew quieter.

Even the wind felt colder for a moment.

Shichiro looked toward the sky.

"…It's still stuck in my head."

A pause.

"Nothing's happened since then. Two years, and nothing."

He frowned slightly.

"…What are the Gods planning?"

Rokuro scoffed.

"Dude, it's been two years. Let it go."

He leaned against the wall casually.

"Bellerophon's probably dead."

Another shrug.

"And honestly?"

A small grin appeared.

"Do you remember Isocrates?"

Shichiro blinked once.

"…Unfortunately."

Rokuro laughed quietly.

"We're way stronger than that guy now."

His eyes narrowed confidently.

"All of us."

A beat.

"Nothing can stop us anymore."

"…How are you so sure about that?"

A tired voice interrupted.

Katsu walked into the hallway half-awake, messy hair covering one eye.

He looked like he hadn't slept in three days.

Which honestly meant he probably slept twelve hours.

"We haven't gotten any real development," Katsu muttered.

"It's only been two years."

He pointed lazily toward the giant smoke cloud outside.

"…And from what I can see?"

Another explosion echoed in the distance.

Kentarō screamed again.

Something caught on fire.

Katsu stared blankly.

"He's the only one getting stronger."

Silence.

Then.

"THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!"

Kentarō yelled from outside.

Rokuro immediately looked toward the window.

"…Should we stop him?"

Another explosion.

Bigger this time.

Katsu turned around instantly.

"Nope."

Shichiro sighed deeply.

"…We're doomed."
