Chapter 142: The Hyena

Meanwhile, in a raucous, chaotic tavern in the center of Mock Town, Jaya.

The turbid smell of tobacco, the stinging scent of cheap alcohol, and the accumulated sweat of pirates who hadn't bathed in years mixed together to form a unique, indescribable "Pirate Pub Aroma."

Inside the messy establishment, shadows flickered as rude laughter and the clinking of glasses rose and fell.

Right in the center of this chaos, occupying the most prominent spot at the bar, a man reclined in his chair with an exceptionally arrogant posture.

He had messy blond short hair, tanned skin, and a lean, muscular build that looked as if it were carved from rock. His bare upper body was covered in scars of varying sizes—each a testament to the bloody battles he had survived.

"Bellamy the Hyena." Born in the North Blue, Captain of the Bellamy Pirates, and the overlord with the highest bounty in this sea region—55,000,000 Berries.

"B-Bellamy-sama!!!"

A pirate minion scrambled into the tavern in a panic, shoving people out of his way as he sprinted straight for the bar. He gasped for air, his face flushed with excitement.

" The Straw Hat Pirates... have landed on the island!"

Clang—

Bellamy slammed his glass onto the counter, splashing liquor everywhere. He sat up straight, his eyes gleaming with a predatory light.

"Are you certain?!"

As a pirate captain with a bounty of 55 million, he normally wouldn't be interested in a rookie crew worth a mere 30 million.

However, a few days ago, a communication from the New World had changed his mind.

The "Family" he worshiped and dreamed of joining—the Donquixote Pirates led by Donquixote Doflamingo—had personally issued him a directive: Keep a close watch on a rookie group called the Straw Hat Pirates.

The voice on the other end of the Transponder Snail had even given a promise he couldn't refuse:

If you can successfully capture the blue-haired maiden for Doflamingo, you, Bellamy, will officially join the Donquixote Family. You might even leapfrog the ranks to become a Senior Executive.

For Bellamy, who had always yearned for the recognition of the "Heavenly Yaksha," this was a godsend.

"It—It's absolutely true!" the minion nodded vigorously. " The brothers keeping watch at the port saw their ship dock on the southeast coast with their own eyes!"

"Where are they now?"

Bellamy stood up from his chair. He grabbed the subordinate by the collar, lifting him like a chick, his voice trembling with excitement. "Did you see the blue-haired woman? The one with horns on her head!"

"Urgh... ack..." The poor pirate struggled to breathe, forcing out the words. "Port surveillance said... four Straw Hats disembarked... The blue-haired woman and a black-haired woman... they headed toward the Mont Blanc family's territory..."

"Mont Blanc?" Bellamy frowned.

"Mont Blanc" referred to Mont Blanc Cricket, that stubborn fool who spent all day shouting about clearing his ancestor's name—the descendant of the "King of Liars."

That guy controlled the Masira Pirates and the Shoujou Pirates, two salvage crews that constituted the second-strongest force on Jaya, right after the Bellamy Pirates.

Bellamy had long found that group an eyesore. A bunch of lunatics obsessed with "Sky Islands" and "Cities of Gold," occupying a large chunk of the island's resources but never paying tribute to him, the hegemon.

The only reason he hadn't acted was that the gap in their strength wasn't overwhelming; an all-out war would result in heavy losses.

But now, his target happened to have entered their territory. He might as well solve both problems at once.

Thinking of this, a cruel smile surfaced on Bellamy's face. He grabbed a bottle of wine from the counter, chugged the entire contents in one go, and smashed the empty bottle onto the floor—Crash!

"Boys! Come with me. We've got big business to handle!!!"

"ROAR—!!!!!"

"Move out! Move out!!"

"Long live Bellamy-sama!!!"

The pirates in the tavern fell silent for a split second before erupting into a tsunami of cheers.

"Hahahaha! Does Boss Bellamy have another target? I wonder who the unlucky bastard is this time?"

"Who cares? No one on this island can defy Bellamy-sama!"

Amidst the cheers, the tavern door was suddenly pushed open. Shortly after, a green-haired man with three swords at his waist stepped inside.

"Excuse me, do you have any sake..."

After entering, he shouted toward the bar. Before he could finish his sentence, he seemed to finally register the situation inside the tavern and froze on the spot.

You've got to be kidding me...

"Uh, never mind. Wrong room."

The corner of his mouth twitched. He turned around, intending to leave immediately.
