Chapter 9: Cocogoat Shoots a Bird

1,206 Words

Half a day passed, and it was afternoon.

Zoro had already taken off his shirt and was wielding his blades in the warm sunlight, his body soaked in sweat.

This was his daily routine.

Sleeping. Drinking. Eating. Exercising.

Now that there was no wine on board and his sleeping cabin had been taken over by a woman, he had no choice but to exercise on the deck.

But.

Now that there was one more person, the already small boat seemed even narrower.

What Zoro wanted most right now was to kick this kid who dreamed of being their captain off the ship.

But the woman unexpectedly took a liking to the boy, not only letting him ride on her boat but also giving him barbecue.

Zoro couldn't understand why.

"So, how can you guys agree to be my crewmates?" Luffy lay on the deck, looking at the sun overhead.

Zoro glanced at him and said coldly:

"I already said it's impossible. Why should we work for you?"

What's so special about this kid?

"But Ganyu has already agreed! Now all that's missing is you, and our pirate crew can be formed!" Luffy suddenly said with a grin.

"What?!" Zoro was stunned and turned his gaze toward Ganyu in the cabin with disbelief.

Is he telling the truth?

Ganyu lay on her side in the cabin, her back to Zoro and Luffy, leaving them only with her graceful view. The cheongsam and the pure black bodysuit outlined her beautiful figure.

Hearing Zoro's voice, she still didn't turn around, as if she were asleep.

But Zoro knew very well that this woman was once again engrossed in the "Introduction to Navigation in the East China Sea," a book she could never seem to learn.

She's reading.

Seeing this, Zoro shook his head helplessly.

He knew that once she entered this state, she couldn't be woken up no matter how much you called.

She sleeps exactly the same way I do.

Luffy rushed over, glanced curiously into the cabin, and then turned away, bored, after seeing Ganyu reading.

When he looked at Zoro, his eyes darted around.

"Hey, what's your name? Why are you a pirate? And why do you have three swords?"

Luffy believed that Zoro didn't want to be his partner because they weren't familiar enough yet.

Therefore, once they got to know each other, he would definitely agree to join him and Ganyu.

Uh... that's right. In Luffy's eyes, Zoro is already the third person.

Zoro initially wanted to ignore him, but Luffy was the type who wouldn't let it go, which annoyed Zoro to no end.

"Roronoa Zoro. A three-sword style swordsman." Zoro, barely suppressing the urge to kill Luffy with a single strike, said impatiently:

"Kid, you say you're a pirate, right? I used to be a pirate hunter, specializing in hunting pirates. So you'd better stay away from me."

Pirate Hunter?

Luffy was taken aback.

He suddenly remembered the two bounty posters he saw in Shells Town.

Two pirates who defeated the highest-ranking naval officer... one nicknamed "Frost Arrow" and the other... "Pirate Hunter"?

Could it be...

Luffy suddenly looked up, carefully examining Zoro's face, and then occasionally turned his head to look at Ganyu lying in the cabin, his gaze sweeping over her ice-blue hair.

These two... aren't they "Frost Arrow" and "Pirate Hunter"?!

The two companions he was looking for turned out to be Zoro and Ganyu!

"Hahaha, that's awesome!" Luffy couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"What are you laughing at all of a sudden? Are you crazy?" Zoro was startled by his sudden laughter.

"Zoro, you must join my and Ganyu's pirate crew! It's fate!"

"What?! Why are we talking about fate again? And what do you mean, 'joining you'? That woman and I are on the same side, okay?!"

"What's the difference? We're all in the same boat anyway!"

"It's completely different!"

...

The next day.

"I'm so hungry..."

Unlike the energetic Luffy of yesterday, he was slumped weakly on the deck today.

He hadn't eaten anything all morning.

For Luffy, it was nothing short of torture.

"Idiot! If you hadn't eaten all the food yesterday, you wouldn't be starving now!" Zoro said through gritted teeth.

He unusually didn't exercise today.

The reason, of course, was that food had run out, and in order to conserve energy, he had to stop exercising.

The food on their boat was actually enough for him and Ganyu for a week. Although Ganyu had a big appetite, she wouldn't eat as much as this kid did, and she would only have a big meal after arriving on an island.

Zoro suspected that even a month's worth of food could be eaten by this kid in a single day.

"But I'm so hungry... Zoro, do you have any food left?"

"That's all. If you want some, go catch some from the sea yourself!"

"I'm a Devil Fruit user, so I can't go into the sea."

"If you can't go to sea, look up at the sky. Maybe a pie will fall from the sky."

Zoro's original intention was just to mock the kid, but he didn't expect him to take it seriously. He stopped complaining and looked up at the sky with longing eyes.

He's actually waiting for a windfall.

"Idiot..." Zoro was completely speechless.

It's hopeless. This guy must be an idiot.

"Meat!"

Suddenly, Luffy's eyes lit up and drool dripped from the corner of his mouth, as if he had really seen a pie in the sky.

Zoro looked up in surprise.

It was a pink bird.

Wait... Why is he reaching out his hand?

Could it be...?

Under Zoro's wide-eyed gaze, Luffy stretched his arm toward the sky, his rubber arm extending ever longer as he reached for the bird's beak.

"Wait, something's wrong with that bird..." Zoro hurriedly said, trying to stop Luffy.

He discovered that the bird was incredibly large, much larger than their boat.

How dare he try to catch such a big bird?

The large pink bird also noticed someone attacking it from below, and its eyes revealed a human-like mockery.

It let Luffy grab its beak. Then, as Luffy used the contraction of his arm to propel himself upward, its beak snapped shut and bit Luffy's head.

Hearing Luffy's screams, it couldn't help but feel smug.

This ignorant human brat dares to covet my body!

Watch me carry you away!

However.

The pink bird was overjoyed for only a few seconds before its eyes widened. It looked down at its own body, only to see that an ice crystal arrow had struck one of its wings.

A bone-chilling cold swept over it.

The ice began to spread from its wing, gradually engulfing its entire body, including Luffy.

It turned into an ice sculpture.

It plummeted straight down.

Below, a young woman in a cheongsam with ice-blue hair put down her longbow. She watched the trajectory of the falling ice sculpture with great satisfaction.

As expected of me. Perfect accuracy.

Now we can have meat to eat.
