One thing that Haley knew about her grandfather was his ability to put people at ease before tearing them to shreds.
It was a technique that he employed time and time again, but no matter how many times it was used on her. She always managed to fall for it, hook line and sinker. The call had started off well enough, with the two of them exchanging greetings. Then her grandfather had gone on to tell her about the antics of some of his friends.
Old men and women who still lived as though they were in their twenties, racing on motorcycles, and even dyeing their hair, all the colors of the rainbow.
In between all of the funny stories Haley had wanted to jump in and confront her grandfather about sending Emily over to the penthouse. But it had never seemed like the right time, so she had just held back, not wanting to ruin the light-hearted atmosphere of the call.
