"This place should be good enough."
After traveling for almost an hour from the river road through the side streets—still far from the main road—moving as slowly, silently, and carefully as they could, Nach finally chose a place where their group could rest: a convenience store with two apartment rooms on the second floor and a rooftop above.

"Close those roll-ups in front first," Saya said, pointing her light at the slightly open metal shutters where the group that had salvaged all the convenience store items had probably entered—or so she assumed.
Saya's five bodyguards quickly responded to her order.
"Should we check the rooms above just in case, Aniki?" Hiro asked, which gave Nach an idea.
"Then let's split up all the work," Nach said, assigning everyone their roles while the group rested.
Takuzo, Naomi, Yamada, Ishi, and the other eight students were to stay on the ground floor and search for whatever items remained in the convenience store that might still be useful.
Saya, Kohta, Shizuka, and the five bodyguards would head to the rooftop to monitor the surroundings and plan their next route.
Meanwhile, Nach, Rei, Hisashi, and Hiro would search the two rooms on the second floor in pairs, with Nach and Rei together.
Nach had thought Hisashi or Rei would complain about being separated, but to his surprise, Rei agreed easily while Hisashi didn't seem to mind.
Is he ignoring Rei's approach again? Nach thought as he broke the doorknob of the first room with his sledgehammer after receiving no response to his knocking and call.
The first room seemed to be for live-in employees, judging by the two double-deck beds inside. It might even have been shared by male and female employees, considering the work clothes for both men and women hanging on the wall. Lastly, the pair might have been in an intimate relationship, given the multiple used condoms scattered around the beds and floor.
"This was probably used just yesterday."
