For someone who could play a PvP game on his phone and obliterate his noob opponents with only forty percent of his attention—while another thirty percent was on the movie playing on the television, and the last thirty percent on the snacks he was eating as he sat on the sofa—Nach could easily monitor what was happening to Shido's group through the holographic screen of Reader's Viewpoint flashing at the corner of his vision while fighting Saki's undead.
Maybe not everything, but what he could remember noticing was already enough for him to piece together and understand the situation.
When the undead outbreak started in the morning a few days ago, there wasn't a single customer in the shopping mall, as it was still closed. It was a perfect safe haven, with no threat of undead inside—completely fortified with metal roll-up barricades on windows and entrances—and it had enough supplies of food, water, and equipment to last for months, even with a group of a hundred survivors.
Which was why Nach suggested to Seako that it was the perfect place for the other students to evacuate—and for the same reason Shido seized the opportunity to take control of the shopping mall.
Feeling hopeless after being left behind, practically abandoned when one of the students with them turned undead and started devouring the others—not to mention the fear that overwhelmed each of them during their desperate escape, where they lost almost half of their original numbers—Takayama and his students were easily swayed by Shido's scheme:
To avoid being left behind and abandoned again;
To secure a safe haven of their own;
To overthrow Mitsushima, who was the appointed leader of more than two dozen survivors.
Takayama and all of his students agreed to Shido's plan, but when Shido offered the female students as leverage to the horny survivors, Morita tried to stand up when Shimada—the guy who tried to assault Shizuka in the original plot—claimed Misuzu and Toshimi, along with Taniuchi and three other girls, all for himself.
Morita was beaten by Shimada and voted out of the group, together with Hiro, who refused Shido's offer simply because Shido immediately cast out the elderly couples he had no use for.
That was enough for Nach to understand the situation by the time he landed the helicopter on the rooftop of the shopping mall.
"Nach-sensei… why are you here?"
"I'm here simply because Kyoko asked me to…"
More that was enough for Nach to choose who he would save the moment he stepped out of the helicopter, unarmed to lower their guard, hiding the revolver tucked behind his waist—loaded with the single bullet he got from Rei for the sole purpose of killing Shido.
"…but I don't see why I should rescue most of you," Nach said in a cold, deep tone, making it clear to those who knew what they had done—and what they hadn't—that he wouldn't offer any help.
"You think you're some kind of savior?" Shido said as he grabbed Mitsushima from Takayama and held her hostage. "Then hand over that helicopter, or I'll blow this woman's head off!"
The malicious leer on Shido's irritating face told Nach that he wouldn't hesitate to kill Mitsushima—and what was probably going through his mind.
The helicopter was his ticket out of this chaos. There would be no need to tire himself manipulating all the useless, pathetic idiots around him anymore. He could fly to a secret safe house his politician father owned, maybe bring a few girls with him to keep himself entertained while waiting for the authorities to handle the undead outbreak.
If that wasn't what he was thinking, then he was truly just an average, one-time villain, Nach thought, before answering Shido.
"You want this key?" Nach said, showing the helicopter key before tossing it toward Shido.
A few seconds of distraction as Shido stared at the key above him—that would be enough for Nach to swiftly draw his revolver and shoot Shido in the head before he could decide which hand to use to catch the key, or whether to shoot Mitsushima first before attempting to catch it.
At a twelve-meter distance, Nach was sure he wouldn't miss and accidentally hit Mitsushima.
Mitsushima, however, had a different plan.
She comprehended what the rugged, handsome, muscular—undeniably attractive—man was planning: to kill Shido and save her. She was honestly impressed that he had come searching for his students despite the chaos of the undead, but as a police officer, she wasn't keen on unnecessary violence and murder.
As Nach drew his revolver, with Shido distracted by the key, Mitsushima swiftly crouched down, slipping out of Shido's hold around her neck. She followed up with a low kick, knocking Shido to the floor.
—Bang!—
"ARGH!"
The gunshot that hit Takayama in the left leg—knocking him down, squirming and screaming in pain—didn't come from Nach. He had held back from shooting upon seeing Mitsushima's skirt get torn from her low kick, her black panties peeking out.
It came from Shido misfiring his revolver as Mitsushima straddled him and stepped on the hand holding the gun, completely restraining him even though her arms were tied behind her back.
"There's no need to kill him now, right?" Mitsushima said as she glanced over her shoulder and saw Nach approaching to pick up the key.
"Maybe not now," Nach replied before taking the revolver from Shido and stepping on his hand hard enough to break his finger.
"ARGH!"
While Shido screamed in pain, unable to stand, Nach lifted Mitsushima to help her up and free her from her restraints. He could have removed the rope binding her hands from behind, but Nach wouldn't miss the chance to make a move on the beautiful police officer.
With Mitsushima facing him, Nach embraced her while untying the rope around her arms.
"Are you hiding another gun in there?" Mitsushima said, flustered as she felt something hard pressing against her belly—something that surely wasn't a gun.
"Sorry about my shotgun," Nach teased, making her even more embarrassed.
Seeing Nach completely distracted, all of Shido's male students—including Takashi—rushed at him, brandishing knives and hammers to save Shido, kill Nach, and take the helicopter key.
Nach, however, might have been distracted, but his guards wasn't down.
The side door of the helicopter abruptly opened, and a sledgehammer came flying out.
"ARGH!"
Takashi rolled and stumbled across the floor, squirming in pain as the sledgehammer struck his left leg and sprained his ankle.
Seeing what happened to Takashi, everyone halted their charge. Upon seeing Miku step out of the helicopter, those who had abandoned her backed down in fear of her murderous leer.
Miku walked toward Takashi, who was crawling on the floor trying to get away from her—terrified, knowing exactly what she intended to do as she picked up her sledgehammer.
"ARGH!"
"Pfft—hahaha! Try begging for your life now, trash."
"Please—"
—BAM!—
