Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: The Smelter's Sacrifice

I. Walls Closing In

Garth and Elara bolted from the chamber, Containment Vessel secure, just as Warlord Jax's armored thugs smashed the gate. The Warlords figured out the trick and went straight for the Silicon Smelter – their real target.

They're ignoring the whispers! They're throwing everything they've got at us! Anya yelled over the comms. She and the team floored the Analogue Transport Truck toward the back.

THEY'RE COMING FOR US. WE NEED TO SCREW WITH THEM, Elara said, not slowing down.

We need something that really hurts them, not just a distraction, Garth said, gasping. The smelter! We use the silicon dust!

RIGHT. SILICON DUST REFLECTS LIGHT. HEAT AND SHAPE WILL MAKE A CRAZY, BRIGHT LIGHT, Elara said.

They reached the old blast furnace, a big, rusty thing– the smelter's core. A ton of silicon dust and old heating coils were inside.

II. Crazy Flash

Anya, take the truck to the main air vent on the west side! We need to get out fast, and the heat needs a way out! Garth said.

Inside the furnace control room, silicon dust hung thick in the air. Elara spotted the main power box for the heating coils – simple, high-voltage copper wires.

THE COILS HAVE ENOUGH JUICE FOR ONE BIG OVERLOAD, Elara said.

We won't use the power. Too slow. I'll use my Resonance to start the overload, then the power gives us the flash, Garth said.

Garth connected a copper wire to the heating coils. He stripped the wires and got ready for the pain. He had to shove enough Arc Resonance into the system to trigger the blast, then pull back before they blew.

Ready, Elara? This will be nuts, Garth warned, pressing his bare arm against the copper.

READY. DO IT, Elara said.

Garth screamed as he sent the wild energy of the Fractured Arc Grid – the Nullification's leftovers – into the heating coils.

The energy slammed into the coils, making a huge power surge. The old heating system went into overdrive, hitting max temp fast, turning the silicon dust into vapor.

*BOOM!*

The furnace blew, not with fire, but a crazy, silent flash. A wave of super bright, white light – millions of particles of superheated silicon dust – shot out, lighting everything.

The light didn't just blind them; it messed with their heads. It was pure order mixed with wild chaos. The Warlords, because of their eyes and sensors, couldn't see.

III. Escape

Garth fainted, his arm burned, his mind blown by the chaos. Elara caught him, her cool head fine.

They ran from the control room. The Analogue Transport Truck hit the gas toward the back exit as the light faded.

Anya swung the door open. Get in! Now!

They jumped into the truck. As they sped off, they glanced back. The Warlord forces were stuck, their vehicles stopped, their commanders yelling confused, their eyes fried by the flash.

They hadn't just lost eyesight; their brains were scrambled.

IV. Next Stop: Zeta-1

The team drove for hours, really pushing the truck. The Geometric Fragment Tracker was beeping fast, its signal strong.

The Warlords are not a threat to us, Dr. Valen said, glancing at the map. That Flash really messed them up.

NEXT TARGET IS CLOSE. ZETA-1. THE MAGNET PLACE, Elara said, pointing at the map. THIS FRAGMENT USES MAGNETISM. THIS WILL BE STABLE AND MAY BE DESTRUCTIVE.

Garth looked at the map. Zeta-1 was deep in the mountains – a lonely spot.

We have two fragments, Anya said, looking tired. We get the last one, and this Geometric Enclosure falls.

Raya, after seeing the flash and Elara, didn't say anything. She was scared, but she was ready.

The Magnet Fragment, Raya whispered. If it's magnets, it won't be mind tricks or a light show. It will be power. We will be going against nature.

Garth held his aching arm. He was the key to chaos, but the pain was intense. He thought he had one, maybe two, hits left.

We move now, Garth said, his voice rough. We hit Zeta-1. We end this, or we are done.
