Ren was still hiding behind the old shelf, waiting for the right moment to shoot.
Bang!
The bullet shot out of the pistol barrel at high speed, piercing the shelf in front of him and heading towards the man in the cloak.
Ah...!
Without hearing the sound of the shot, the bullet hit his wrist precisely. This caused the woman he was choking to slip from his grasp.
The woman coughed as her chest felt tight. She tried to stand up and run away from the man in the cloak as fast as she could.
However, unexpectedly, her body was too weak to withstand the pain from the previous choking. The woman suddenly fell and slowly lost consciousness.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three bullets rained down on the man in the cloak's chest, making small holes and causing fresh blood to flow, soaking his cloak.
Not satisfied with that, the bullets that had previously pierced his chest ricocheted and pierced his left and middle chest again. They flew backwards and back into the pistol's magazine as if Ren had never fired at all.
"Ugh..." Blood seeped through the covering on part of his face. "Damn you!" The man in the cloak knelt down, trying to endure the pain throughout his body.
Meanwhile, Ren came out of hiding, took a lighter from his pocket and lit it. He walked towards the man in the cloak, pointing his pistol at him.
"Tsk... This time I lost," said the man in the cloak resignedly, smiling as he turned to look at the corpse of his colleague lying in front of the iron door.
Without hesitation, Ren pulled the trigger of his pistol.
Bang! Bang!
The bullets hit his head and heart respectively. He froze. He felt a cold sensation creeping through his skin, causing his helpless body to collapse to the floor and die.
Blood flowed from the bullet holes, forming a small pool around his body.
Ren glanced sharply at the corpse of the man in the robe. He staggered towards the woman lying on his left.
"Hey, wake up! Are you going to sleep here?" he said softly as he gently rubbed her shoulder.
"Eh..." Her eyes slowly opened. "Where is this? My head hurts so much." The woman frowned, trying to endure the pain in her head.
The woman's name was Veranica Holdun, one of Ren's colleagues. She was a human with supernatural abilities who worked under the leadership of the Morotuane Church—Moran, as a scout for dangerous activities in Moran.
Both of them were known as "Hollows." Humans who were able to control and master one of the fifteen abilities that existed in this world.
Ren was a level one "Controlled," with a special ability that allowed him to see in the dark, and he was able to generate a strong attraction to objects he touched. Like the pistol he used to kill the two robed guards earlier.
Once the bullet leaves the pistol at high speed, he can generate a natural suppressor and penetrate any object so that the enemy cannot detect the bullet's origin.
The firing range can be adjusted at will. In fact, if he wanted to, he could eliminate spirits and souls to a fundamental level using his pistol with the help of a small purple-black ball.
However, Ren did not do so, as it would significantly drain his body's energy and cause him to faint for a full day.
Previously, he had used the purple-black ball to fight a group of spirits when he and his younger sister were walking towards this building.
At that time, he felt his sister's life was in danger. He had no choice but to use it. Since then and throughout the battle, Ren tried his best not to faint.
And when the time came, he couldn't bear the heavy burden. Ren's body fell to the cold floor, his consciousness slowly fading, and his eyelids slowly closing.
A cold sensation pierced his fingers, then spread throughout his body and immediately knocked him unconscious.
Veranica was shocked, her chest still feeling tight and confused by the current situation. She reached out her hand, crawling towards Ren's body in front of her.
Her attempts to wake him failed. She slowly stood up, checking Ren's heartbeat to make sure it was still beating.
"Thank goodness," she said with relief as she observed the situation around her.
Veranica tried to lift Ren's body. Although it was heavy, she remembered Ren's kindness, which she had not yet repaid. And also recently, he had saved her again.
She supported Ren's body with her shoulders, walking slowly towards the iron door on the right side of the room. Her cold hands turned the iron door handle and pulled it back.
The creaking sound of the old hinges, accompanied by the rusty metal, rang clearly in her ears, making them buzz from the unpleasant noise.
Veranica shook her head to clear the sound from her mind. Her body suddenly broke out in goosebumps, and she wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.
What's more, her ability to confine the five robed figures would not last long because one of them was a Hollow.

Veranica shook her head to dispel the influence of the voice. Her body suddenly trembled, and she wanted to get out of this place as quickly as possible.
Moreover, her ability to hold off the five figures in black would not last long, because one of them was a "Hollow".

Meanwhile, Zavi managed to bring six people, including his mother, to safety, entering the crowd of people watching the building overgrown with wild plants.
Worried about Ren's condition, Zavi decided to return to the building to look for him and bring him home.
He asked the black-haired woman beside him for help, asking her to look after his mother for a while.
The woman owed him a favour because Zavi had previously saved her life, so she nodded in agreement.
Zavi smiled, turned around, and ran towards the building. But after entering through the path he had previously taken, the corridor was dark.
He walked along the path and arrived. He stared at the dark room and was surprised not to hear any more gunshots. He jumped reflexively, and the atmosphere in the corridor became tense.
From a distance, his eyes caught sight of an open iron door with a little light shining into the room. After taking a few steps, Zavi accidentally stepped on the body of a person wearing a robe.
He reflexively took two steps back, squinting his eyes to see what was in front of him. His eyes widened. Shocked. He couldn't believe that Ren could kill him without the slightest hesitation.
Feeling something was amiss, he ran towards the door. As he was about to leave the room, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, startled again by the corpse of the robed figure to his left.
Zavi swallowed hard. He continued on his way, walking down the corridor, which was fairly well lit by the moonlight shining through the large windows and vents.
A few seconds later, from a distance, Zavi saw two paths, one straight ahead and the other to the right. Running while thinking, he decided to turn right.
As he turned, he saw a staircase in the distance. When he got there, as he was about to go down the stairs, he was surprised to see a woman who looked familiar to him carrying Ren's body on her shoulder.
"Hey..." Zavi said calmly, standing next to the stairs and slowly going down them.
Veranica turned her head and stared intently at him.
"!?!"
The atmosphere in the room suddenly became tense. The two stared at each other without saying a word.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" asked Veranica in surprise.
"No," he replied briefly. "Is he unconscious? But he's not hurt at all," she asked in surprise, realising that there were no serious injuries on Ren's body.
Veranica reflexively touched Ren with her cold palm.
"We'd better get out of here as soon as possible!" she said with a serious expression.
Zavi just nodded and obeyed her. After all, after seeing her carrying a man, he knew for sure that Veronica was in pain.
He offered to carry Ren's body, but Veronica flatly refused.
Zavi was surprised. He didn't know what was going through her mind. After that conversation, they headed towards the large door in front of them.
Footsteps could be heard from behind the door. Both of them reflexively stopped in their tracks and exchanged glances. The sound grew louder and clearer. The huge door then opened towards them, creating a strong wind that pierced their bodies.
In front of them stood three people wearing robes, one of whom was annoyed and unconsciously saw the woman who had previously locked him up. The anger within him immediately overflowed, he couldn't bear to take revenge and was about to kill him.
