Sandy's POV
"I never harmed you, Charles. I walked away because I thought you intentionally—"
"What about this?" His bitter laugh cut through my words before searing heat crawled up my arms.
The burning sensation wrapped around my throat like invisible fingers choking me. Then it invaded my skull, plunging everything into complete darkness.
Familiar cries of agony flooded my ears. I clawed desperately at the air, trying to silence his tortured screams, but my hands grasped nothing. Every cell in my body felt like it was being consumed by flames, yet my throat burned with an intensity that overshadowed everything else.
An overwhelming thirst consumed me. I craved something warm and thick. My nails scraped frantically at my throat, but someone's grip restrained my hands.
