Sandy's POV
The healer's weary voice cut through the sterile hospital air. "He'll need days of rest before he's fully recovered."
I watched Brandon shake his head, exhaustion evident in every line of his weathered face. Paul slumped against the wall, releasing a dramatic sigh that seemed to echo off the stark white walls.
"Thanks, Brandon," Paul said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Just promise me you won't mention this to Dad."
Brandon paused at the doorway, his hand resting on the frame. "Of course. But what about the patrol guards who saw everything? You think they'll keep quiet when the Alpha starts asking questions?"
He didn't wait for an answer. The door clicked shut behind him, leaving Paul and me alone with the unconscious form of Fred lying motionless on the narrow hospital bed.
