Chapter 75 - Chapter 75

After the meeting, everyone left, but Zane kept two people behind.

Victor and Martha.

"Martha, you need to handle the financial handover in the coming days. At the group meeting next week, I will formally appoint you as the Chief Financial Officer of the parent company, Golden Sunrise Entertainment Group," Zane said solemnly.

"Understood, boss," Martha replied simply, though a trace of excitement was evident in her voice.

She was a graduate of the prestigious Princeton University, but by a twist of fate, she had ended up in a career in Hollywood. For many years, she had drifted along, never imagining that in her middle age, she would achieve the position she held today.

Zane smiled and said, "Martha, after you leave the subsidiary Blackwood Pictures, do you have anyone to recommend for the new head of the Blackwood Pictures Finance Department?"

Recommendation systems had existed since ancient times.

They had both disadvantages and advantages!

Their existence was reasonable.

Of course, just because Martha recommended a candidate didn't mean Zane had to accept it, but it was an important reference.

"Boss, I think Ms. Konis, the head of the second group in our finance department, could serve as the head of finance for Blackwood Pictures," Martha recommended.

Ms. Konis?

Damn!

Hearing this, Zane couldn't help but blurt out, "The Ms. Konis you're talking about... isn't she the African-American lady who weighs over 200 pounds and talks in rap all day?"

"Yes, that's her," Martha nodded.

Instantly, Zane's forehead was covered in black lines.

It wasn't that Zane discriminated against Black people—after all, his old friend James was Black too. It wasn't that he discriminated against overweight people, either. It was just that the Ms. Konis in his impression was a very... eccentric person. Well, a real character.

At this moment, Victor, seeing Zane's doubts, said, "Boss, I also think Konis can serve as the head of the Finance Department. In her professional area, she is indeed very skilled and meticulous."

"Well, alright then. I'll find some time to speak with her," Zane agreed tentatively.

After all, if the usually eccentric Ms. Konis was strongly recommended by two of his most trusted confidants, she must have her own unique strengths.

Zane continued, "Since Martha's role has been adjusted, let me talk to you now, Victor."

Victor immediately straightened up.

"Victor, you will serve as the CEO of the parent company, Golden Sunrise Entertainment Group. That's confirmed. However, I haven't found someone to replace you as the CEO of Blackwood Pictures yet, so you'll have to handle both roles for the time being. Of course, I will find an assistant to help you with your work," Zane said slowly.

An assistant?

"Who is it?" Victor blurted out.

Hearing this, Zane didn't answer directly but smiled mysteriously.

...

The set of a certain 20th Century Fox production.

"What?"

"You said you're from a headhunting company, representing the boss of Blackwood Pictures, here for me, Kevin Feige?"

Kevin Feige, 24 years old, looked very confused and shocked.

"That's correct!" the headhunter affirmed. "I am here on his invitation. You must have heard of Blackwood Pictures. After all, Juno caused quite a stir in Hollywood a while ago."

Kevin Feige nodded. "I know Blackwood Pictures. I even watched Juno in the theater. I even bought a DVD of their earlier film, Static."

That's right, the assistant Zane sought for Victor was the 24-year-old Kevin Feige.

He wasn't famous now; he was a complete rookie.

But anyone who knew Marvel would recognize Kevin Feige as the future president of Marvel Studios, the man who would create a cinematic universe that shook Hollywood.

Of course, at this point, Kevin Feige was just a rookie who had graduated college two years prior and was currently an assistant to the famous Hollywood producer Lauren Shuler Donner.

(Lauren Shuler Donner, a well-known Hollywood producer, was the lead producer for the entire X-Men series, including the Wolverine trilogy.)

"I refuse!"

After the headhunter explained his intentions, Kevin Feige refused without hesitation.

"You actually refused?!" The headhunter was shocked, but also held a hint of admiration.

"From the sound of it, you seemed to guess I would refuse?" Kevin Feige was puzzled.

The headhunter nodded. "Yes. A few days before I came here, I spoke with Mr. Blackwood, and he told me that even if I offered you a promotion to President of Blackwood Pictures in the very near future, you would still choose to refuse."

He paused, then said, "I was very confused at the time."

"Who could refuse such a promising, high-paying job?!"

"Then Mr. Blackwood told me that you, Kevin Feige, are an avid Marvel comics fan. You took the job as an assistant to producer Lauren Shuler Donner precisely to learn film production experience to prepare for future Marvel comic book adaptations."

"I didn't believe it before, but now, seeing your reaction, I have to say Mr. Blackwood knows you very well."

As the headhunter finished speaking, Kevin Feige was stunned!

He truly hadn't expected Zane to know him so well.

Man, that was the boss of Blackwood Pictures!

The headhunter said, "Mr. Feige, let me tell you some news. The film rights to Marvel's Spider-Man, including related characters like Venom and Doctor Octopus, are now in the hands of Blackwood Pictures. Moreover, Mr. Blackwood is still negotiating for the rights to other characters like Iron Man, Black Widow, and the Hulk. I believe, given Mr. Blackwood's resources, he will be able to acquire these rights."

Kevin Feige: "..."

He was utterly stunned!

For an avid Marvel comics fan, was there anything more attractive than this?

Well, the future president of Marvel Studios compromised.

He couldn't wait!

...

UPN Television Network.

All the company's employees, including the senior executives, were shocked to learn that their television network had become a subsidiary of the newly established Golden Sunrise Entertainment Group.

"'SpongeBob Animation Studio'... isn't that the studio that produced SpongeBob SquarePants?" a female receptionist exclaimed in surprise.

"That's right!" someone else immediately chimed in. "Not only that, but even the SpongeBob SquarePants merchandise store chain started by our boss has now been merged under the Golden Sunrise parent company."

The two staff members at the front desk couldn't contain the shock and joy in their hearts.

Company mergers might not be a happy event for some senior executives.

After all, no one liked having an extra layer of authority above them.

However, for ordinary employees, they were happy to see the company consolidate and grow. It meant broader promotion channels and potentially higher salaries in the future.

"Okay!" Alexander, the Director of Channel Operations who happened to be passing by, couldn't help but nod and smile.

"To think UPN has become a subsidiary... but this is fine. With the addition of Blackwood Pictures, the UPN television network can access more Hollywood film and television resources. This is a good thing."

...

Animation Studio.

"Team, I have great news for you!" Stephen Hillenburg, the head of the studio, announced loudly to all the animation studio employees. "Starting today, we are no longer just an animation department under Blackwood Pictures. We will exist as an independent subsidiary!"

An independent subsidiary?!

As his words landed, the entire animation studio erupted.

"Awesome, boss!"

"Yes! We were just a department before, which sounded pretty low-level. But now it's different."

"Boss, our animation studio should have a proper name now!"

Everyone began talking excitedly.

Stephen nodded and smiled. "You're right. Our animation studio will be officially named Water World Animation Studio!"

...

SpongeBob SquarePants Stores.

When James, the store manager, informed all the employees of the SpongeBob SquarePants merchandise chain about the Golden Sunrise Entertainment Group, they were completely thrilled.

"Manager, you mean we might be able to transfer to other jobs in the future, not just be sales staff?" a female employee asked excitedly.

"That's right!" James nodded and said loudly, "As long as your work performance is good and you have the ability to take on other positions, you could be transferred to the UPN television network or Blackwood Pictures. And of course, don't forget, Charlize Theron, who started in our store, is now a big Hollywood star. If you love acting, it's not impossible for you to become an actor too!"

Exhilaration!

This news was incredibly exciting for those who were only working as sales assistants.

Moving upward was everyone's pursuit!

It was an innate desire that couldn't be erased!
