"Sallie's crossed the line this time!" someone snapped.
Another voice joined in, "Absolutely. She's completely ungrateful."
"Jill's too forgiving," a third person added. "I would've knocked some sense into her ages ago."
The group rallied together, tearing Sallie down while lifting Jill up, as if they needed the comparison to make their point stick.
"What Sallie pulled is completely unacceptable," Salome declared.
"Someone needs to knock her down a peg."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Jill seemed uncertain. "Isn't that going a bit too far?"
"Not at all," a girl snapped back. "She only acts this cocky because nobody's ever challenged her. She won't learn until someone gives her a wake-up call."
Salome leaned forward, "Exactly! She just returned and immediately started kissing up to Prof. Barber. Maybe she's the reason you lost your spot as Prof. Barber's student."
